Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

To Shannon T I think all us moms are in the same boat. They leave and we are still the worrying moms watching our little boys and girls leaving home without us to be there to protect them. At least that is how it feels for me. They are coming into being young men and women with the guided hands of the Navy, not us moms. Well we at least got them started on the road to independance and being grown up :) We all get to be basket cases together. Welcome to the group.

My son left on Tuesday July 10th and we received his box on Thursday. I thought that was really quick. I was not expecting it so fast. My daughter was home when the box arrived and she was afraid to call me, she thought I was going to start crying again. I did not. I was just so excited to see all of his stuff, even underwear. Just waiting for the form letter now, can't wait for that so I can start to plan for PIR. It has been a rough few days for me. I cry at the drop of a hat then we found out that a local marine was injured in Afghanastan, he will be fine, Thank God. Can't wait for the 1st letter and maybe a phone call.

Got my "kid in the box" Friday and I didnt expect it. Instead of crying it made me laugh because my son left with the clothes and shoes he cared least about because it didnt want to have to pay to have stuff shipped back (hes really tight on a dollar lol) he even had on some shoes that he hated and laughed that he would be happy to have them throw them away. So.....when the box arrived I didnt expect it, not because I dident know they would send it because you have all been so good with information and I really appreciate it, but because he was going to have them throw it all away! It made me laugh! Now I am anxiously awaiting the form letter so I can get his address. I have already written 5 letters to cover the 5 days hes been gone. Got some good advice from a couple of retired military firends that said write about anything and everything that is going on at home it helps keep them connected so I sit down every morning and write about the day before and especially about the funny quirky stuff his dog does and it makes me laugh again too.
Keep the faith ladies, cant wait for graduation! -

I got the box on Friday too! Funny you mention what your son wore up there. I really thought my son looked like a rag muffin when he left, but I didn't want to say anything because I knew he was so nervous. He did not ship his shoes or clothes back, which is fine with me. Last night I finally sat down and wrote my first letter to him. I told my husband he wants me to write every day, but we have such a boring life. I guess I will have to juice it up a bit! Hopefully this week will bring the official form letter, then we can start planning! Everyday that passes, I feel more confident he may just make it through this! This mom is feeling so proud, I can't even make it through an Olympic commercial without crying! Keeping the faith!

Did the recruiter confirm PIR of 9/7? I've been researching some hotels too. Since my husband is a Marriott club member I am thinking of the Residence Inn in Waukegan. I really would like a kitchen because I promised him some roast beef po-boys and other southern cooking. And my daughter and her fiancee are joining us so I really need 2 bedrooms. My son Alex shipped off with a Jordan from New Orleans. Where did your son ship from?

Hi Ladies My daughter left for BC on 7/10 also, we live in Washington state. No Box yet?? I am thinking I might call the recruiter tomorrow and see if he has any info. If you get the address early can you start sending? I see the PIR date is more than likely 9/7 have you started booking rooms yet? This weekend was so strange to not have her hear or going off to work. Please keep in touch.

My son shipped out on the 10th from New Orleans. I think you should get the box tomorrow. I am busy writing letters and plan to mail them as soon as I get his address. I will call his recruiter tomorrow and see if he has the address yet. I am hoping for a 9/7 graduation. I may go ahead and book hotel since I can always cancel the room. However, I am waiting to get official confirmation of PIR date before I book flight. I'm just hanging here until we can start our own PIR group discussion.

Gunner62and Jordans mom, , My daughter Graduated HS in June also. She is our first one away from Home :( we also have a 16 year old son. I am hoping the PIR is 9/7 I keep seeing that daye so I guess we will see. What is your sons job going to be ? My daughter will be going to Florida for A School. Please add me as a friend if u like and stay in touch. :) if you look at my page I posted her senior pic! My Baby girl!!!

For those of you who've already received "the box", did it come regular mail, UPS, Fed-Ex??...We only live 4hrs from Chicago and are a little surprised we haven't gotten ours yet.

Jules The box was shipped FedEx. I received it on Friday and I live in New Orleans. I read somewhere that they can just donate their stuff so they won't have to pay for shipping.
