Where are the different A schools and who goes where?

From what I have read the most common are Goose Creek:Nukes, Great Lakes, Pensacola, Conn, and I've read where 1 is going to Texas.

Are Nukes the only ones that go to Goose Creek?

Just curious.

My son who's in bc right now is going to be an MT on a sub and his A school will be in Connecticut and his additional training will be in Georgia.  My oldest was a Gunners Mate and his A school was also in GL.

Yes the Nukes are the only ones who go to Goose Creek.  There are 3 different ratings for nukes, he will find out what rating he is going to be when he gets closer to the end of bootcamp. If you are looking for more information you can send me a private message or you can join the Nuke Moms group.

Here's another one for you GANukeMomma - my daughter will be going to A school in Maryland.  I think it is so wonderful how these recruits come from all over the country to one place and after 8 weeks are once again scattered all over this great nation.  I'm sure they will develop friendships in BC that will last a lifetime.

My son is going to Dam Neck, VA (right next to Norfolk) for IS School for about 6 months.   He had to sign for 6 years (like most nukes I am sure) and he gets E3 out of boot (because of JRTOC) and E4 when he graduates A school. I did the same thing 20 years ago. I went to CTM school in P'Cola, and got automatic E4 after A school.

my son is at Dam Neck. It is more like next to Oceana which is in Virginia Beach. It is much better than Norfolk. Not as busy and the beach is really nice on the base at Dam Neck.

Here is a Discussion, Ratings, A School Locations, and Links to Groups (clickable link), that tells that info.  You will have to click on the attachment to see the information.

My bestfriend is going to be a Nuke and he is going to Charleston for his A School.
