It's been about a week since my Sailor left for Boot Camp.

There really aren't words to describe how everything feels right now. Some days I feel strong, and sort of happy. Other days, I still want to curl up by myself and cry. From what I've heard from his family, we still haven't gotten a phone call.

It's really hard to believe it's only been a week. Two more to go before I can start sending my letters. I just wish time would go by a bit faster.

Finding things to keep myself occupied is a struggle sometimes - though I have found it to be slightly easier with keeping myself active and getting a job. Talking to someone who's going through the same thing has been helping out a lot, as well.

Not sure exactly what I'm posting this for.. just an update I guess.

Oh that's good news :) I think that's what I'm most fearful of, is time dragging insanely slow while he's gone. The worst part is the time of year he's leaving - he'll be gone for his bday, halloween, thanksgiving, christmas and new years :( it's a bit dreadful for me, as I won't be able to spend those holidays with him. So your boyfriend I assume comes home around November? I think reserves is enough as well. I can't really imagine dealing with someone on active duty. That's so much time apart, I wouldn't be able to deal - although I know some do! My bf is 31, a bit past his prime for the navy stuff, but it was a long decision coming, and he's settled for reserves only. I can live with that after his 6 months away is up. At what point did you guys start sending letters? Did you send them out and get them back often? Did he ever call you during his time in bootcamp? I hear that once bootcamp is over, A school is much easier to deal with because you can communicate normally with each other....Maybe you can let me know how it goes, because i'll definitely be here alot while he's gone....

Girl same here!! His birthday is August 26, so I'm going to miss his. I just had mine on July 11, so he missed mine too :( It was awful, but he wrote me a letter saying, "Happy Birthday" and told me he would send me a present while he is in A-School :) I think he will be able to visit on Thanksgiving because while they are in A-School, they earn about 2.5 days of vacation each month!! So hopefully we will see each other then. But I wont see him on Halloween, Christmas, New Years, and possibly Valentine's Day...not sure about that one yet. When I asked him about A-School he wasn't completely sure when he would be getting back. I'm guessing either January or February..I don't think he will be home before then. But my by will be 25 next month, really sucks I'm going to miss his birthday. Well he left June 25, and so far his letters that I've received have been dated June 30, July 4, July 8, and July 9. I got his address on July 3, so I started sending letters out on July 5 (sorry for all the dates!!) Umm...I received his first letter on July 10, so about 2 weeks after he left. And the letter I just got from him a couple days ago he told me that he finally got my first letter! (Which was dated on July 9). I've sent him a letter almost everyday, but they are only given certain days to write..so you wont get as much back. So far the only call I have received is the "I'm here" call right when he arrived at Great Lakes. I'm expecting one today since today marks training day 2-5, and most people gets their calls on that day..so I'm hoping!!! And I will definitely keep you updated on everything, I get up here everyday. I also have a FB if you get up there more often. So yeah, I hope what I told you was helpful!

Your bf's bday is a day after mine lol! Luckily I will be able to spend my 30th bday with my boyfriend, and he's coming on a family week vacation to the beach in August....so I should be very grateful for that! So you never said, or maybe I'm bad at catching on lol, but is your boyfriend in active, or reserves? Just curious. I guess once mine leaves I'll have to start with the letters. I read it's really important to write to him each day since it's really his only support system while he's away. I didn't know they earned vacation time while in A school, that's kind of exciting. The navy would pay for him to travel, correct? I think that's what he had explained to me (I'm still a novice at this military lifestyle!) It's good to see that yours might be able to visit you though....how long all together have you two been apart? Are you allowed to send them anything while in bootcamp? Pictures or anything? I know there's strict rules about stuff...but I was just curious...and yes..i have a FB too....we should connect there...it wouldn't hurt to make a friend who's going through the same thing...how do I find you there? You can inbox me if you dont want to blast your private info LOL..totally understandable!

He told me the reserves, but he might go active...he hasn't decided yet. I hope he stays reserves though because I don't want him leaving me! Lol. And I'm not sure about them paying for the travel...that's the next question I need to ask! Haha, I've asked him a lot so far..and don't worry, I'm totally new at this too! What do you mean how long have we been apart? Like since the navy thing, he's been gone since June 24. This is the longest it's been since I haven't seen him :( And you can't send presents!! He made that clear to me lol..they would have to throw it away. But you can send presents when he's in A-School, just not boot camp. And I heard pictures are okay, I haven't sent mine any though just because my envelopes are too small for that. And I'll definitely message you my name so you can find me up there! ;)

Ok cool, just shoot me an inbox msg and give me your name or whatever, I'll look you up. So when is your bf scheduled to return for good do you know? Mine leaves Sept 12th, so he most likely wont be back until February of 2013, which is SO depressing and seems like forever! I guess I'll learn to deal with it...I look forward to the bootcamp part moving quick so we can talk each day while he's at A school...that seems alot better.

I'll be sure to keep everyone posted with updates....I'll probably be living on this site once he leaves LOL...

Girl the beginning is the worst! We weren't able to write until a couple weeks in, so I know how it was. It gets better though, but still hard. I'm still waiting on a phone call and all I want to do is hear his voice!

Tomorrow I'll be exactly one week down. I understand where your coming from! The clock seems to tick slower and slower. The first few days were by far the worst but it has gotten just a tad bit easier.  I cant wait until its 7 weeks down :)

It has been two and a half weeks since my SR left, time is going by so slow!! Mom's in his PIR are starting to get letters and I am trying to be patient, but it is so hard because I just want to know how everything is going for him!

It has been 9 days since my SR left :( Some days are really really hard but I think it is beginning to get easier! I understand where you guys are coming from. My hubby worked nights before so we haven't been apart more than a couple hours in the last four years, it can be difficult! I'm sure we will all pull through!! :D
