I have read some of your posts and I can't say that I'm happy to see how emotional you all are but on the other hand it helps me feel like I'm not going crazy.  I knew that he was leaving on the 12th and I knew that he was going to the hotel on the 11th but yet when he said it, I lost it (not in front of him) because I felt like I was robbed a day.   I guess I had wishful thinking that they would just pick him up on the 12th from my house in the morning.  I'm tearing up as I write this now.  He is my baby boy, my pride and joy, my heart.   I can't' think of a time that I'm not going to just be able to talk to him whenever I want.  I feel so selfish but yet so proud.  It's a horrible mix of emotions.  I plan to be here often because I have a strong feeling I am not going to handle this well at all.

Thanks for creating this group and I hope to find some moms that have their son/daughter leaving the same day also.

After I read this message, I called the recruiter and I messaged you but I see it didn't appear.  I did it from my phone.  Our sons are together.  :)  Ship 9 division 288.

Yay! I was beginning to think my son was all alone on this journey. :)  He shipped out of Louisville alone, but met a large group in Chicago. I hope they are settling in well.

I've been on N4M since he got on the plane finding all the information I can. Knowing what's going on makes me feel a little closer to him. Not sure how I'm going to make it until September, but this site has been a great help. Glad to find another Mom to go thru this journey with!

I sent a personal message with the info. (There is a request not to post last names on here so you may want to edit your post- especially if Spencer is SpecOps or Crypto.) I'm writing to Cody as well. He teased me about knowing more than his recruiter since I spent so much time on this site. He'll get a kick out of me knowing the name of someone in his division. I can see him smiling saying "Only you, Mom!"  :)

Let me know when you get your letter. The RTC hasn't posted any PIR dates after 8/31. Still hoping for 9/7!

I guess I should have rethought putting his name out there.....lol. He's not in a special ops, he's a religious specialist. :) or will be. I'm learning this whole forum thing, it is not anything I'm used to and took me forever to find the comment where I posted that but I took it down. I hear the friends they make at BC are ones that they keep forever. That would be cool if they were friends and we meet here. I told Spencer alittle bit about you but again I couldn't find the post to even get the first name. When I write him tonight, I will ask but still have to go to your private message.

I gave his friends his address, hopefully it doesn't change.

Have you thought about making a group for the Div our boys are in? I have and might try :)

My son left for GL on 11th.

Mom of B, mine left from NJ on the 11th as well.  Only 3 left from Fort Dix that day, but 35 left on the 10th.  Having a tough time just wondering every minute what hes doing and if he's handling it all.

I wonder the same thing constantly

Looks like some that arrived at GL on 10th will be PIR 8/31.  I misquoted above (ugh to acronyms), my son left with recruiter on 11th and spent night in airport city, but didn't fly out to GL until the 12th.  I'm waiting on the form letter (should arrive today) for the official word, but it appears his PIR will be on 9/7.

Mom of B,

Please keep me posted when you get your box or letter

I got my box today

My box came today. No note inside, just his name and squiggly lines on top. His clothes and backpack were just thrown in and one sock is missing, so I imagine a Mom somewhere wondering why her box has three. :) His Navy shirt still smells like him. I briefly contemplated wearing it for the next couple of months, but sanity prevailed. It's getting a little easier every day, but I still really miss him. Tomorrow will be one week. Only 7-8 more to go...

Actually, he left on 11th, but spent the night in the airport city.  He flew out for GL on 12th.  It was his first time on a plane!
