Does anyone know when I'll get my DEERS information in the mail? In need to get my military ID as soon as possible so I can book a room on base for Grad.

You should have it soon.  You can book a room using his name, that;s how the moms do it.  When you check in, you should have your ID by then.

You can book a room at the Navy lodge with out having an ID anyone can book there that is going to PIR.

If you are planning on book at the Gateway Inn (which is on the base) he can NOT go there.  He may be able to wait in the lounge for you...but he won't be able to go to the room.  Gateway is off limites to Sailors.  So if you are planning any "alone time" (wink...wink) than I woudn't stay at the Gateway Inn.  I would stay at the Navy lodge or another hotel.  Though I would stay away from the Ramada Inn.

Oh thanks for the info, I think

I will stay at Navy lodge!!

Actually, that is incorrect. I asked RTC and TSC for am official answer and they both said it was fine. My husband had spent much time here with me and has run into officers in the lobby and elevators. They exchanged hellos and went about their business.

We have had plenty of alone time here. The rooms are very nice and they are only a 5 minute walk from the barracks, which means we have more time together because there is no driving. Highly recommend the Gateway.

Oh thank you so much! This was really helpful. Why wont they allow the sailors to go in?

You can book a room without the id. You have to show the id at checkin. I'm at the gateway for my hubby's graduation weekend right now. Theoretically, you could come in Thursday before graduation and get your id then check in. you'll need the dd1172 form to get a visitors pass. As soon as you have your id, you can register your car on base so you don't need a pass. If you plan on visiting frequently, definitely get the stickers.

Awesome! Thank you! I tried to book the room but they said they have to wait until 30 days before the graduation? Did they tell the same to you?

Hmmm..I was planning on calling tomorrow to see about booking, hope that's not the case :(

Yup, I had to wait until 30 days before. I believe it is because the gateway serves active duty members that are traveling on orders also, so they don't want rooms to be booked way in advance. But that its my guess

Oh that makes sense. Thank you.

I got my deers info just this past friday the 20th and my husband arrive in GL on July 3rd. hope that helps a little bit?

Oh, cool. Thanks!
