Just got home from MEPS.  It was an all day affair.  Dropped her off at the recruiter's at 8:00.  Drove fast as we could to get to the MEPS for the swearing in at 11:00.  We got there at 11:06 thanks to Texas new 75 MPH speed limit.  When we got there they told us it wouldn't be until after lunch or maybe 30 minutes or maybe an hour and a half.  We were afraid to leave to go eat.  It was 2:08 when she was finally sworn in.  After some more waiting she was free to go and wanted to go with us to eat.  After that she wanted to go to her room so we dropped her off at the hotel at 4:30.  She told me to text her soon as we got home.  That sounds like my line.

We  didn't get much sleep last night.   She was up all night with friends.  I had to run them off this moring so we could leave.  I think I'm ready for a nap.

Right there with ya sparkyjo. Josh stayed at the hotel last night. Swore in this morning. Boarded his flight an hour ago. It was his first time in a major airport. We are watching his flight now via flightware. I cannot wait to meet the young man who will greet me in two months. Meanwhile, write all the letters I can write and take care od hubby. He had a motorcycle accident Saturday. AC separation in his right shoulder. Could have been much worse!

Chels has never flown either.  She said neither had the other three guys leaving with her tomorrow.  I'm glad you got your son off after the swearing in. Her swearing in and hotel stay were backwards because the MEPS computers were going to be down tomorrow when she was supposed to be sworn in.  My mother wants to go back to Shreveport tomorrow to see her off at the airport.  It was too tough this afternoon.  When she hugged me and said I love you all I could do was just hug her back.  Now I now the meaning of being all choked up.  But we have been texting back and forth since I got home.  Forget the nap.

I hope your husband is ok.  Sounds painful.

I haven't started a letter yet.  I sent her pictures I took on my cell phone and put some of the ones I made with my camera on facebook.  I emailed her email address to some of our adult friends last night.  They have been emailing her congratulations and encouragement all day.  She was really surprised by that.

Hope our kids get to meet each other.

I hope they get to meet too. Just got my last cell phone call. Overwhelmed!

My daughter is on her way.  She texted when they changed planes.  Hopefully she will get to call before they come get her at the airport.

How are you? Text her to call you as soon as the plane lands, before she walks off, and you can get a few minutes then. We got the last cell phone call around 9:15 last night when Josh's plane landed, but not another call after that. I hope it still comes. I didn't sleep well thinking the phone would ring again around midnight. No such luck. Our kids are in the Navy now!

I did.  I texted her to call me before she got to the USO.  She called as soon as she got off the plane.  I got to talk to her while she was waiting to get together with the other three she left Shreveport with.  She said she really liked flying (coming from the Six Flags queen).  I got a few more texts from her then she said she couldn't really use her cell anymore.  I guess the "I am here" call will come tonight sometime.

Hey, ladies,

Since we are no longer "DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in July" where does our little group go to talk?  The first thing I would read when I signed on was "Daughter leaves from Indy July 23, 2102".  It was my lifeline. Do we move to "Bootcamp Moms"?

That's a good question!  I wondered the same thing.  I cannot wait to get their ship assigment to see if they're in the same group  That would be sooo neat!!

Britt is finally there, as of 5p tonight.  This has been the longest past two days.  I am exhausted, but glad to know she's reached her destination safely.  Now, I'm dreading the day I pull into the driveway and see "the box" sitting on my porch.  I think my hubby is going to purchase stock in the Kleenex tissues, I've burnt through I don't know how many the past couple of weeks. :)

Thoughts go out to you all and your sailors.  We've got some amazing kids out there!!  (us parents aren't too bad either. :))

I'd say let's move it! ;)

I think there is a way we can become "private friends".  I read that somewhere just a few days ago.  We could start a discussion on "Bootcamp Moms" or maybe we will be in the same PIR and can start one there.

Oh, yeah, I got the official "Call" at 7:45 last night.  Like Rox 3 said "They're in the Navy now".

I received my box today....it was on my front porch when I got home. I had an overwhelming dread as I walked to the porch. When I opened it I cried a little and then laughed a little when I saw that they had even sent his underwear home. I guess now I just wait for the form letter, then I can start sending him letters. My friend was joking with me about how much money I would now be saving on groceries and I responded "What I'm not spending on groceries I will now be spending on postage...LOL  If I don't laugh...then I cry.
