Okay, so I have been waiting for my boyfriend to call me. I've gotten the "I'm here" call a month ago. But nothing since then :( He left June 25, and today starts his training day 4-1. It's also the week of "Hell's week." I just thought I would have received a call by now. Any advice you guys can give me? Just curious if anybody is waiting like me or how long it took y'all to get that first call. Each passing day is getting harder because it's so hard going day by day not hearing his voice. I'm praying for one soon, but at this point I feel like I'm not going to get one till the "I'm a sailor" call. Just feeling alone right now and I know you ladies are great at relating to how it goes. His PIR is 8/17/12, so I'm over halfway. But at the same time it feels far away, especially without hearing from him.

Is he in regular boot camp? Or is he in basic training? If I'm not mistaken, and I very well could be, Hell Week is in BCT, not BC. When my sailor was in BCT he was able to call some, but he was tired a lot so it really depended on how much energy and time he had. When he was in BC, however, we really only communicated with snail mail until after he was done and went on hold while he waited to fly to CA for Indoc and BCT. When he was on hold we had plenty of time to talk and it was kind of felt as if (in my opinion) he was at a summer camp where he had chores to do and was able to have some fun and see different things, but was also able to do what he wanted as far as communication when his little chores were done.

I wouldn't be too worried if he is just in boot camp and you haven't gotten a call from him.

And if he really is going through hell week, he is probably going to be way too spent to even find his phone.

Yeah I said "BC" for boot camp, I just abbreviated. I guess it means something else? Haha, shows you how much  I know!

No, that is right, I just got confused because I didn't think that Hell Week was during boot camp, at least not the for real Hell Week.

Well then, don't worry about not getting to talk on the phone. I would just wait for letters. :)

Yeah, I'm hoping on a letter tomorrow :) I'll keep y'all updated and hopefully I get a call soon!

I'm not really sure what the difference between "boot camp" and "basic training" is but when my husband was in boot camp he got to make a phone call around this time and one other time before his "I'm a Sailor" call. What you should know is phone calls are a reward for them. They are not guaranteed and should not be expected. There are divisions that don't make any phone calls until the "Sailor" call. So don't expect one then you can be surprised if you get one. It will come from an 847 area code, btw.

Well I know his division got calls last Tuesday because I spoke with a lot of moms that got calls from their sons in that division. However, I'm not sure why he didn't get one. A lot of them said quite a few guys we in SIQ from getting their wisdom teeth pulled, so that might be why he didn't get one. Just hoping for one soon though!!

That happened to me. When my husband's division got their first calls he was recovering from getting his wisdom teeth removed. So it doesn't mean he'll get a "make up" call though.... So like I said just don't expect one. You'll appreciate it so much more that way if it does come!

Like abuon18 said, the calls are not guaranteed! They are rewards. Your boyfriend could have had to stand watch while everyone else made phone calls. They always say in the Navy that no news is good news. Just be sure to write to him as much as you can and be patient and keep busy! Hopefully you will get the I'm a sailor call in a few weeks :) I know it's really hard not knowing what's going on and not being able to talk to him but you are getting close to the end! Just always have your phone on you just in case because you could get one at any minute!!! Don't give your hopes up though :P

Yeah, I keep my phone with me EVERYWHERE! Even when I go to the bathroom (just in case) lol. But yeah I write him every day, still hoping on a letter tomorrow. Thanks for the help y'all! :) I really do appreciate it.

Yes take it to the bathroom with you! I got a call while I was in the shower and I jumped out and answered it anyways!!

Sometimes they don't ever get a call till the I'm a sailor call. "No news is good news!"

Bootcamp does have a hell week. As far as calls, like other girls said phone calls are rewards in bootcamp. If there division doesnt do what they are supposed to they dont get phone calls. No news is good news. If something had happened he would call. I know it sucks but we just have to be patient and keep pushing through. Chin up its almost over
