They only get to make phone calls as a reward or when they get their Sailor call. Just keep your phone on you and look out for an 847 area code but don't expect a phone call. Some divisions don't get to make any until their Sailor call. It all depends on their RDC's.

okay! when is their sailor call? well when would that normally be?

It's after they pass their BattleStations.... Usually sometime the week before PIR!

It also depends on what week and day they are on, they usually don't get a midpoint call until week 2 day 5. I just got my first call from my boyfriend on Wednesday, and he left on 7/2. He had a test that he did really well on and it was 2-5, so he got to make a 30 minute call while some of the other guys in his division only got 10 minutes.

okay! thanks guys :). ill just make sure i have my phone on me at all times

Yup! That's the best plan. It really doesn't matter what day or week.... They are not guarantees a midpoint call, they are allowed them as rewards! So just hope he does really well in his tests!!!

I got a phone call every friday when my bf was in boot camp and once I got a call in the middle of the week too!. My best friend (she doesnt have any family) is in the navy as well and I was the only person she  could/wanted to contact. I got a call from her the day she arrived and then maybe two weeks later and then before and after Battle Stations. I guess it depends on their RDCs like @abuon18 said. I hope you get your call soon! <3. Please like my fb page, I would love to have you apart of the page to share your boot camp stories with us as well! facebook.com/mysailormyanchor

it will be his 3rd week on wednesday so im hoping to get one soon!

I hope you get one soon! I just got my first one yesterday, after waiting 5 weeks!! He missed his call on training day 2-5 (midpoint call) because he was in SIQ from getting his wisdom teeth pulled. The one I got yesterday was a reward call, and it was awesome! Of course, I'm missing him more now after hearing his voice!

awe :( im sorry. so i might not get one til his 5 weeks :(?

I mean it really just depends. Most people get the halfway point call, but not everybody does. Like everyone mentions, calls are more like rewards for them. They are never guaranteed a phone call. Any little thing could take that privilege away, such as the division doing bad on tests and inspections.

okay :(
