I've seen both, and I'm not sure. I found out my boyfriend is going to be either an ET or FC, and he will be staying in Great Lakes. He graduates boot camp 8/17/12. I just want to know how long A-School lasts and C-School (is it C-School necessary??) He's staying in the reserves. I've seen numerous answers, and I just want to know how it really is! I appreciate any help!

I answered over in the AECF group.  Short answer: yes, for ET/FC, C school is necessary.  There are a LOT of different C schools for them, so no way to tell which one he will be assigned to until he's halfway through A school. Lengths vary a lot.  Six month sis uncommon.   They have to go to  ATT before A school, and there's a lot of hurry up and wait, so his time at Great Lakes could well be over a year.  Then add on C school.

I was an ET.  Been there, done that.

With a reservist, if he becomes an FC and there are no immediate openings in the C schools, he could train with his unit and be ordered to C school later.  Theoretically.

So, my son is also ET/FC.  He was under the impression for his schooling he would be there through the middle of November.  I think that is what his recruiter led him to believe.

Yeah, I knew nothing about C school or the indoc he has to do before A-School..had no idea it would be this long.

If the recruiter was not an ET or FC himself, he may not be familiar with the program.   Nor every recruiter went to A school in Great Lakes.   I can promise you, the training is very long, and there's a lot of hurry up and wait.

I couldn't tell you anything about the sub prrogram, other than what I've learned here, for example.  Great Lakes may have made a few changes in the

Thanks Anti M...I really do appreciate your help. Plus, it's really nice talking to someone that went through it. Even though the next year or so is going to be tough, I'm gonna stick it out and be there for him. I don't want to be one of those obsessive girlfriends begging him home this second, he's doing what he wants to do. Hopefully I'll find out more answers soon :) I'll be busy with school though, so maybe time will fly by. Again, thank you so much!
