OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Leaving for Bootcamp August 1st or 2nd, 2012
I keep seeing running lists of dates that kids are leaving and I really wanted to connect with other people whose kids are leaving at the same time my son is. So, if you have a child leaving either August 1st or 2nd, post here and let's keep each other up todate on progress.

It's OK... all of us are in the same boat with not being able to think or concentrate. Every time I see my son walking around the house, I get all teary eyed and can't think straight. I drop him off tomorrow for his over night hotel stay and then Thrus is his departure day. My stomach hurts just writing this...

Our sons are leaving the same day! :) Just think they will both be in the same boat together (so to speak lol). How old is your son?

My son is 18. Just graduated from high school. Yes, they will be in the same boat, LOL!!! And so are we, so to speak...

Mine just graduated also :)
He left today and is flying to GL tomorrow. He seems to be doing well. Me-not so much. I even got upset when I went grocery shopping because of the food there that I didn't need to buy. Seems silly but it made me sad. I know he's doing a great thing and I wouldn't wish for anything else, but its tough.

My son is leaving for the hotel tomorrow and shipping out on the 2nd. I am curious about the swearing in and families being present. He is flying out of Nashville.

My son's recruiter told me that we are able to attend the swearing in, but we would probably not be able to go to the airport. My SR is flying out Aug 2nd from Phx.

Kazzam,
You should call the airport that he is flying out of to see if they offer military passes. Recruiters (I found) can be very umm stupid, for lack of a better word. There is no reason that you cannot go to the airport to see him off. -

My daughter arrived at Great Lakes today. I just received "the call" and I expect to receive the letter and her box sometime in the next week or so.

I also got the phone call home about 11:30pm saying he has arrived and we will be getting his box soon. We did go see him take the oath and also went to airport to see him off. Im so proud of my son and hope these next weeks go by quickly for me and him.

My son left today for GL from Phx. We attended his swearing in and we were also allowed to go to the airport and get a special pass to go to the gate. We anticipate our call much later, but everything went very well. There were 8 other SR's with my son, so he wasn't alone. I am thankful for that! I only met 2 other parents that attended the swearing in. I miss him already and feel so bad for all of them having to be so tired and be up for the next 36 hours or so to get all settled in. Oh, well, let this journey begin because it will be all worth it when I see him at PIR.
