Hi, everyone who has a SR on Ship 4, div 818. My son left on July 3. We live in Ohio. Hope to hear from all of you soon.

Got a very short but nice letter from my SR yesterday. Not much information but he sounded a lot more grounded. He was looking forward to the week ahead and some new challenges.  They don't seem to go into much detail about things...I think it's a combination of being male and also not divulging too much information.  I've always had to kind of pry information out of him as a general rule of thumb, so I'm not surprised.  I can't wait to be with him and get all the goods!  HAHAHA.  Hope you ladies are all hanging in there.

My SR sent his grandma a "letter" - short but sweet (told her to be careful in the heat - she's 89 and he was worried about her). He only wrote on 1/2 of the Navy paper and then tore the bottom half off. I have to wonder who got the bottom half lol. Unlike your son GMom, my son sometimes told me more than I wanted to know but now he doesn't say enough. Feast or famine I guess. Are you going to the Sarge's Meet and Greet at the Ramada? I'm not sure we will make it into town in time for that but I am hoping. I took 1/2 day off work so if my hubby does the same, we should make it. Its a 6-1/2 or 7 hour drive. Right now I have a room at the Quality Inn. I haven't seen anyone else with a room there so I haven't gotten any feedback on it. I'm just hoping its a decent place.

Actually I found out that the Ramada Meet and Greet was different from "Sarge's" so I not only switched hotels to the Candlewood Suites, I RSVP'd at the Sundance Saloon (that's where Sarge's Meet and Greet is held) from 5:30-9pm....hope you can make it in time Jodi. When I called the Candlewood I spoke with the front desk clerk who really told me that I was making a good decision to switch hotels from the Ramada.  She seemed very sincere about the fact that the Ramada was a poor choice. Whew.  We will be in town on Wed. so we are planning to spend Thursday in Chicago sightseeing and come back early enough to attend the Meet and Greet.

Got two letters this week!  One on Monday and one on Saturday....it's so much better now for both of us.

Came home everyday this week looking for mail.  Nothing -- did find out he wrote a friends daughter (who was a classmate/friend of his) at least he is writing.  They said he sounded good and his letter made them laugh....that is my kid.

Ladies, be sure to stay on the main PIR page in addition to this discussion group.  We N4Moms veterans don't have time to go on the discussion groups daily...we are on 6-8 PIR groups at a time But we are looking for questions/posting info on the main page on a daily basis.  We will be posting BattleStations info/PIR info as we get closer to the time.  If you hear of a BattleStations date for your division, please friend request/private message it to me.  We can't post the dates on the pages.  I will be keeping a schedule.  Thanks!

Does anyone know when the Battlestations phase begin?  I've been trying to find information on this and coming up empty.  I have been having a hard time navigating this site (I've never joined a "chatroom" type site so this is all new to me).  Any help would be great!  :)

Have a great day everyone!

Have you looked at the discussion on What happens at bootcamp?. Go to the main page of our group and click on all discussions. I think you have to go to page 2 to find it. It will give you a day to day rundown of what our SRs are going through. I think we are in week 4 now. (I made up a calendar but its somewhere at home so I'm not real sure where they are in training right now). I think BattleStations is held during week 7 which is the week before graduation but I might be wrong.

Hi Jodi, thanks for the guidance. I checked out that discussion and found it informative. There are even videos about boot camp and what our SR's are up to. Thanks again. :D

22 days ladies!  Any letters this week?  It's Wednesday and not for me so far, got the last one this past Saturday. I was hoping they might get another phone call but from what I've read the chances of that might be a little slim until after Battlestations.  We are getting there though.  Don't know about you all but I've gotten to I guess what would be considered a midway point in this "Boot Camp Process".  I miss him, but I've grown somewhat accustomed to him not being home, but now I just seem to go through my days wanting them to pass quickly so I can get to Great Lakes.  My fear is after that...what will it be like?  Thoughts?

GMom

I think after boot camp it will be easier. We won't see them every day, but we can at least text or have a call from them. I miss my SR too. I'm having a hard time cleaning up his room to make it a guest room. I want it to always be "his" room.

I have a feeling it will be a bit of a roller-coaster with each time they have a change in location and new things to accomplish...  I too am getting accustomed to him not being here... but I still have his girlfriend and my college daughter and her boyfriend that hang out at my house pretty frequent...  I am dreading mid Sept when it is just "me" and the dog and 2 cats...  lol..   I know this too I shall survive, but still..  I love the energies of the kids.. good thing I have a whole highschool with about 700 kids to work with :)  3 weeks now  woohoo!! can't wait to get on that plane!
