We got the "letter" today!!!!

We are both so excited to finally know his address and what division he is in!!! We had both encouraged him to tell the truth when asked about previous marching experience and apparently he did since he is in Div 943! We are both thrilled to see him on 9/7!!!

Hi Anne,

This conversation is for all of the parents that have Sr's in Ship 02 Div 943!!! Don't feel bad for jumping into it at all! You're more than welcome here as are all the other parents!

Gunner - I just looked at the Facebook page again and I don't see anyone from Ship 02 Div 943 saying they got calls.....maybe I missed it? Can you post a link to that discussion on Facebook please?

Everyone - We are all in the same boat.....er ship....lol. Waiting on letters or calls from our SR. Hopefully we get the letters that Cody said they all wrote on Sunday, tomorrow or Friday. As far as calls, I honestly don't expect one. Our Sr's are doing more than the other divisions so they don't have the down time the "regular" divisions do. Not only are they learning how to be in the Navy, they are learning what they need to do at PIR. OUR kids/husbands/wives/boy friends/girl friends/brothers/sisters will be the thing EVERYONE at the PIR will remember. How do I know this? Because about 14-15 years ago, I attended my sister's PIR. To this day, I remember two things.....1.We got special seating because she had earned that by doing something......I honestly can't remember what. 2. The band, drill team & flags! They marched in perfect unison, sounded awesome and just over all impressed the hell out of me!!! Now I get to go back and see my KID performing with one of those groups! How freaking cool is that?!

Hang in there Mom, I promise it does get better!!!

Tom

I just reserved a room at the Lodge! So what do I need to make sure I have with a 16,7&5 yr old to make life easier for a couple days?

What you don't remember what I earned...but you remember the dang drill team!   ughhh!!!  Oh yea...I only earned top honors for the whole PIR group...

I'm lucky I remember what I had for breakfast today......lol. I'm old remember?!

that is ok...I might not remember to take pictures of Ty during PIR :~}  might just take pictures of everyone else :~}

We got a letter today!!! He sounds very homesick and unsure if he made the right decision, but I know that will pass. It's just such a huge adjustment for him. It's sad to hear, but I know he will be fine. I hope everyone else gets their letters soon.

We got a letter from Eric today. 2 letters, one envelope. He seems to enjoy the drill team experience. He also is sort of an educational mentor.  He asked for a manila envelope to keep his mail secure. Floating is a challenge. If he had more body fat, it might be easier. hehehehe. He is enjoying the entire experience, and is looking forward to being part of the best Navy on the planet. HOORAH!

We got our letter today too!!! Wifey was so excited, she texted me at work to let me know it came!! He actually wrote two, one to Mom & I and the other to his brothers & sisters. We also heard from his girlfriend that she got a letter today too.

He was one of 30 people in the division to pass the PFA (Personal Fitness Assessment) which didn't surprise me, he was a football player and the recruiter really worked on that alot with the DEPPERS.

He said he is meeting a bunch of cool guys! He also said that the division is integrated and he thought that was kinda weird. He sounded pretty upbeat in the letter which I thought was awesome!

I also got a letter from Cody today! I admire how well he expressed himself and was so funny at times. Broke his eyeglasses. That stinks. He is still excited abt his decision to go Nukes but PT is tough! I am thrilled that he sounds so grown up! I hope he makes it Through and gets to live his dream.
I received aletter I guess no cookies for her!! :) She sounds good, she says its the hardest thing she has ever done, two wisdom teeth out! Passing tests and making friends...lol she says every one defend to get along good but the RDC's know her name (in the first 12 hrs) 3 days of no sleep!! Hahaha She says she's holding a flag for PIR up front..I cried the first ten times I read it.

Don't worry they are getting sleep...though they don't think it is as much as they need.  The RDC's will not make them go 3 days with out sleep.

I hope you guys have your phones on you!!!! Tyler called today!!! We talked to him for 17 minutes, then he called his younger brother who wasn't home after that he was going to call his girlfriend and then his best friend. I hope he got to talk to the last two!!

It was awesome hearing his voice again!!! He said the division is working well together, there is a lot of camaraderie within the division but the RDC's don't want the guys & girls talking to each other. He said, Dad we have to talk to each so we can work together and then laughed. He also said the food was good.

That phone call made my day, week and every day since July 10th!!!!! Wifey and I are ecstatic beyond words!!
