For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Letters
Has anyone received an actual letter from their sailor yet?? I'm very anxious to hear from him. I'm also worried. He expressed sadness on his form letter home with his PIR information and I've been a wreck since. I've read that the first couple weeks are hardest for them. Is that true?? Is there a limit to the amount of letters I can send him? I heard that they get singled out if they're getting too much mail and I don't want to make anything harder for him. Thanks!!!

I received a letter yesterday. I almost gave up for this week. I'm over the moon happy. it took 6 days to receive it. I will be walking around with it for a long time.

I had my phone on vibrate while I sang in the choir at church stuck in my bra. Next week when I start a month rotation of singing on the platform as part of our worship team, my husband will hold the phone and I've told everyone if he gets up and leaves church, I'm gone - middle of song or not!

Well my husband said to me " I dont think he is going to write" tonight. That was tough to hear, he has been so positive through this whole thing.Just when I thought I had a handle on this, that blew the wind right out of me... I know my son doesnt like to write letters, I asked him before he left if he was going to write me and he just shrugged his shoulders and said maybe. I just need to hear he is ok... :(

I'm still waiting on a regular letter. I really hope it's not true that they get singled out for too much mail. I've been writing him a letter a day. When we finally got his address, I mailed off 13 letters at once (as I'm sure many of you did too!). I sleep with my cellphone by my bed just in case he randomly gets to call in the middle of the night. Anyone else do that?

maltobella, it is not unusual to see your SR write something like that, and it may happen again. I know it pulls at the heart strings something awful, but I can tell you that it usually does get better for them . The first weeks are hard on them, they are constantly yelled at etc. and it can/will spill over to what they write you. Just remind him that you love him, and he can do this.
I know it may sound repetitive, but keep encouraging him in your letters, tell him you know he can do this, even when you want to tell him you are on your way to pick him up. When you put the letter in the mail run to the bedroom and cry (its ok if you do, I did it bunches).

woo-hoo!!! just got my 1st real letter...son is in Ship #14-Div 290...the letter was written on the 29th...so took a week and a day to get to sw kansas...
it was short and sweet...he likes the food... has a cold..says things are stressful but he expected that... he said his div has alot of 18 olds who like to goof off...(he is 24 yrs old). all in all - pretty positive!!! Sounded good!!! Did want me to sent more world news...
said to expect only a letter once a week...
Sooooo- Happy!!!! the 290 is finally heard from!!!!

YES!!!!! Yay for the 290! My daughter's one of the 18 year olds, but if people are goofing off, she'll be mad. lol All seriousness when it comes to this! Glad you heard from him! Hopefully I'll have one soon!

I just got a call from one of the girls that my daughter flew to Chicago with! Unfortunately, this girl is being sent home, but she ran into my daughter at chapel yesterday and my daughter asked her to call and tell me that she's ok and that she should be able to call on Wednesday! Oh it was so good just to hear from SOMEONE there!!!

I'm sure he was there Always! It's funny how greedy we can get (or maybe it's just me!). Got the very nice phone call letting me know she's ok and immediately took off for lunch so I could swing by the mail box and see if there was a letter. None. Can't help but be a little jealous and happy at the same time for those getting multiple letters!
So, I'll post this...
