Hello Moms,

I just got off the phone with the recruiter and he told me my son's ship/div and address.  I'm *hoping* it's the right one.  Anyway, I'm starting this discussion for any other mom's who might have their recruit in the same division.

My son left for BC from Arizona on 8/1 on a 3:10 PM flight.  We got his phone call at 11:30 PM that he made it to GL safely.  We received "the box" on Monday, 8/6.  No surprise notes - just clothes, shoes, phone, even the change in his pockets and a receipt from Starbucks at the airport for a Tea. haha. His last Starbucks for awhile.

I think I'm holding up pretty well, since my son is older (21) and has been out of the house for College for a few years.  There have been long stretches where he hasn't called, but just the fact that I can no longer pick up the phone and call him whenever I want, is what bugs me.

I'd love to hear how you all are doing.

God bless you, moms and your recruits!

We just got our son's box in the mail today, as well as the letter. Our "kids" are in the same division. Our son is 20 (will be 21 in November). He graduated valedictorian of his high school and TRIED college but hated it with a passion, declaring it a  waste of time and money. He enlisted in November and has had to wait until now for boot camp. He moved home after he dropped out of school, so he was ready to be gone again. :)

Justin will go to South Carolina after boot camp for nuke training. His dad, two sisters, brother, and I plan to be at his graduation.

Oh...and we're from Texas.

I look forward to hearing from more moms with kids in the same division...and I don't have a problem at all including your kids' names in my prayers. :)

Jacob is also in the Nuke program. I'm glad he'll have someone else in his division that has kinda the same background and goals.  They'll be able to relate.  .

I did not get the form letter yet.  Did it give you a PIR date? I'd love to know that.  Hopefully, the letter comes in the mail today. We will definitely be at his graduation.

Thank you for keeping my son and the division in your prayers. We will do the same here.

We have a PIR date of September 28, so I bought our tickets today. All of us will be attending graduation...I get tears just thinking about it.

If you're interested, I purchased our tickets through BigCrumbs.com (1.6% cash back). Searching "Southwest Airlines" will take you to their Southwest Airlines Vacations website. Five airline tickets and a rental car were $1888 (the best deal I've been able to find). I'm a high school teacher, so I'm always looking for a good deal. *shrugging shoulders* :)

Jacob is definitely on my prayer list now, too.

Justin also wants to be on a sub. I was also very weepy the first few days, and I, too, have been doing a lot of praying! :)

Our first few days were MISERABLE and included: youngest daughter visiting a surgeon and needing an MRI (among other tests -- still waiting on results), a broken a/c on our house in 107 degree heat (which miraculously started working on Thurs), and a dog needing 15 stitches. I had no idea where to even start crying...so I've just been praying...

We are staying at a Marriott Residence Inn that's 2.5 miles from the Training Center. They have 2 bedroom suites for $169/night...and free breakfast. I believe their single rooms start at $79/night.

Hello all here is the link to your SRs PIR 9/28 group here on Navy for Moms. There is lots of information and support there for you about your SRs journey through BC. Come join in!!

PIR: Sept 28, 2012
