Has anyone received an actual letter from their sailor yet?? I'm very anxious to hear from him. I'm also worried. He expressed sadness on his form letter home with his PIR information and I've been a wreck since. I've read that the first couple weeks are hardest for them. Is that true?? Is there a limit to the amount of letters I can send him? I heard that they get singled out if they're getting too much mail and I don't want to make anything harder for him. Thanks!!!

YAHOO for all the letters and calls.... we're getting there!

She specifically mentioned you in her letter! Said that your letter was great and since it was totally unexpected, really made her day! Thank you Maltobella!

I got a letter today too! So happy & relieved to hear he is doing good. He said he passed his PFA & thought he had passed his written test as well. Does anyone know what PFA stands for? Is it his physical/endurance test?

Yes, I think it is Physical Fitness Assessment

Thanks Mikey's Mom!

My son asked for a translatin sheet for Japanese and some phrases (he took Japanese in college). So I printed up the translation sheet on one side of a page and then found a site that had Japanese insults so printed some of them on the flip side. Told him he could use those and no one could tell he was being insulting!.....lol. Not wanting to repeat myself, the letter I sent off this morning had a Japanese children's story entirely in Kanji (symbols) on one side. On the flip side I put in a few phrases from some travel sites and told him they were phrases he might need in BC. Like, "I want a new room", "I want to check out now", "Be quiet!".......lolol. Then the last one is a classic Monty Python line, "My hovercraft is full of eels". I hope he cracks a smile at that one.

maltobella, I just received my first letter from my SR...emotional for me as a mom!  they need lots of letters and love..
