His girlfriend got a letter today. It looks like he writes to me one day and her another day. Its a good thing we are in contact so we can share each others letters. It sounds like they are doing very well as a team.

I feel much the same way GMom.  Although I still have 2 kids home -- one only for another week then we take her to college.  My sailor is a twin -- he went off to Navy, she is going off to college 11 hours away.  So a lot to do here at home still.  Then we will be down to a single child household -- NEVER have had that with twins 1st.

I drop my daughter at college and a week later go to son's PIR!  So I think it may be a long week for me

Hey ladies, 22 days and counting.  I received a letter on Monday, and my SR said their division did pretty good on a couple of inspections.  I think he felt their average (if he had to guess) would have been about a 4.75 out of 5.  Not sure what he's basing that on, but sounded like their division is coming around.  He also said they're gearing up for some fun stuff other than folding laundry. lol     He also shared (to my surprise) how much his letters from home mean to him.  He said it gives him something to look forward to during the week, well that and their 4th meal (snack) of the day that their division gets.  Can't wait for battle stations, so we can hopefully get that long awaited call.

Got a wonderful letter from my SR today and it was newsy and had some details! (yeah). Said they did really well with inspection and have a drill inspection coming up as well. Says the RDC's are treating them better and they are all getting to know one another much better. He sounds excited and content. He still misses us but does'nt seem like he is dreading any of it. It was a good day, good news and happy parents today!

We received a letter too. He sounded much more positive. He said it's hard but he can handle it. He said one of the RDC's has some really funny sayings.  He also said they were doing really well with the inspections so they must be starting to work really well as a team. He did fill out a couple of the questionaires I sent him a while ago. On the question of what we should bring him to PIR he said "Candy" and on the question of what he wants to do after PIR he said "Get fast food!" He's counting down the days though as we all are. Only 21 days left. Can't wait.

OH I think I heard about one of these sayings from my SR -- and I know it would be hard not to laugh.

Glad all sounds well -- no new letters here. But I am glad everyone is getting good reports!

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone received any letters?  The last one I received from my son, sounded like last week was going to be very busy.  I was hoping for a letter, but he knows I'd rather him spend time studying or getting some sleep than worrying about writing mom.   As they say no news is good news, but I'm really anxious to hear how last week went.  We're on the count down and I'm afraid to get too excited until I get that long awaited "I'm a Sailor" call.

No letters here - just those 3 I got over 2 weeks ago now.  I like you try to tell myself that no news is good news.  Last letter I know was early last week to a friend of his.  The friend sent him candy -- she knew there was a good chance that he would not really "get" the goodies but I said send it anyway -- he would "share".

I keep hoping to hear but am really just glad things seem to be moving along for them.

Hey MamaG, I received a letter from my SR today. He said he "thinks" their next scheduled phone call is for the 21st. Their division scored 4.72/5.00 for their first drill inspection, and they are right on par to win Hall of Fame! My SR sounded A LOT more positive and upbeat. Only 17 days to go!!! Stay strong ladies! :)

My SR also mentioned the Hall of Fame. From what I've read its pretty tough and it would be quite an achievement if they won it. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they are successful. I think the last letter I received was 8/6. He sounded very positive in his letter too.

Hi!  Got a letter from my SR last Wed - seems to be the day we get his letters- and he sounded SO much more upbeat as well!!  It was good to hear that in the tone of his letter!  He chatted about going to the firing range, but I didn't hear anything about the drill inspection.  Good to know their unit did so well!!! He said he probably wouldn't try to call us until the 25th when we would receive the 'I'm a sailor" call.  Can't wait!!  And I will have to check out the Hall of Fame so I know what this is/means.  :)
