For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

So, August moms~ How are you doing?
My son leaves for GL on 8/8 and I am excited, proud, nervous, a bit sad and much more! Lots of emotions! He has been a DEPper since early November, so I should be ready... but not really!
He is in for 6 yrs because he is going to be a nuke. He says he wants to make a career of the Navy. Time wll tell.
I have 4 kids... a married son (lives close by), a daughter 22 (in college and moving out next month ~finally), my DEP son- 18, and my baby~ almost 15 yr old son.
With my daughter and my Navy boy leaving soon I am going to have a near empty nest, after YEARS of having a full, noisy house. I also hate autumn, so I am thinking I need to be VERY busy when that time comes. Life is about changes. I know that, but it sure is bittersweet to let your babies grow up!
So, how are you gals doing?

Hello,
I am an active “veteran” (been through BC) mom on the PIR groups on this site. My Seabee PIR’d over a year ago and I decided to stay on the site and help out.
Since we have 7-8 PIR groups running at one time I do what I can to try and get to the DEP groups…we used to have a few more moms on here…
If I may suggest…please post any questions you have on the main wall of this group (but don’t quit posting to each other here!) and I will try to get over here to answer them! I will check it at least once to twice daily.
I will also post the current PIR groups on the main wall so you can find them and join to start getting to know the other moms. There are also other long time veteran moms there to answer questions and lend support as well.
For those that have a recruit shipping out later this month…I have re-posted some of JessicaB SailorMom’s great advice on the main wall.

My son leaves Aug 22... My tears are much more frequent lately. I thought I would be better at this. His is my one and only. I am a single mom but that has made us both stronger than we have to be at most times. I look forward to being part of my sons new adventures. I look forward to having new adventures of my own. I am so proud of him. I hope I am saying the right things to him. I hope I have made him strong enough. I have never felt so weak. I am so thankful to have somewhere to say these words, in search of wisdom... in search of hope.

My son arrived at Great Lakes last night. I look forward to posting updates to share will all those in wait mode or in the same boat as me. The Navy has changed so much since I was in. We didn't have P-days. They no longer have "work week" either. Be proud of your son/daughter for serving in the World's finest Navy!!! You will hear great stories, they will make life-long friends and will be a stronger, more independent, mature adult when you see them at graduation. The Navy/Army taught me things I have carried through my life. If it wasn't for the military, I don't know if I would have been as strong and sqared away as I am.

Our son left today - waiting for the call. Attended the oath today - very cool! He has mentioned that he wants to make the Navy a career; as others stated, time will tell.

Hi to all the August moms! I just wanted to wish you all the best. My son left for bootcamp last August (16th). I felt all the emotions that you guys are feeling and my heart goes out to you all. Just stay strong and know they are in good hands. I dont think I have had a more proud moment than when we went to bootcamp graduation. So amazing!!! Try to keep busy any way you can. It will be here befoe you know it. My son is now stationed in Japan on the SS George Washington. It took a while for him to adjust but now he is happy and has traveled so many places already. God Bless you and you children

My Daughter leaves in 8 days. I am trying to be strong and not show her how much I will miss her. It really doesn't seem real. I feel like its just talk since we have been waiting for so long. I really am excited for her and all the experiences she is going to have. She is my only girl and the oldest and 1st one leaving. Can you give pointers on anything last minute she and I need to know?

Lots of emotions. Our son is our only son. We are very proud as this was all his decision. He did the DEP a year ago and is in for four years, Master of Arms. He may make a career out of it. I would be fine with that. My dad was Air Force. But it is so hard to let them go. One thing that comforts me is he will be right down the road for his "A" school. But after that, then he's gone for a long while!!! Very excited for him, as he is sooooo excited!!! :) Glad I found this forum! I know it will help to have you all to share with!!!
