Great question.  But how do you know where his orders will be to?

Maybe letters tomorrow.  Good night from the West coast.  You all are probably in bed ;)

So here we are entering into week 3 tomorrow. Do you think we will get letters THIS week?  I find myself looking @ info  on about.com  Seems to be helping a little.  I hope we hear from our sailors soon!!!

Morning... can someone tell me what the TG 45 after the PIR 9/21/12 means.

TG=Training Group.  Training Groups are number by week and tied into the Navys Fiscal year start. They run through TG 52, and then start back at TG 1. If there is not a TG started in any week the number is skipped.

Thank You Ellen!!

Good morning Mikeysmom, my son has an Apple and has the Mac Book version with the works. It actually has a special case the will resist being dropped, bumped or worse! As for communications, my son is a Nuke. He has only been on one deployment, for 6 months. Not alot of communication. But I was ready for it. In the beginning, especially on the sub, emailing is a privilege. There is only ONE computer on the sub, your sailor does not bring any electronics.
Every email you send will be read several times and even modified . Emails may not have attatchments. No pics, no nothing. In 6 months we only got 4 emails. That not withstanding, you need to keep writing words of encouragement. Don't harp on your Sailor as to why they haven't written. They have a job to do and just because you don't hear from him doesn't mean he's not thinking of you.

My son also arrived the 26th, got my letter last week on the Ship 12 Div 306. was very happy to finally get the address to write to him and give him our support. I finally felt at ease. Sent the letter out the next day. His brothers and i really miss him not use to being away from each other to long. But i know they will all do well.  :-)

Not too much for discussions this evening. I've been exploring N4M's tonight and reading lots in the forum area's.  Hope to hear from my son this week. He's really not much of a writer, so it will be interesting IF I even get one.  I wouldn't mind a quick hello, to say he's OK, kinda note.  We shall see... So where are all of you from? I'm in Connecticut. We have the Groton Sub base right here in my back yard. Zach was going to do Subs but he opted for a different job. I'm not 100% sure of what that job is yet. He really didn't get into much depth about the path he chose, but I think it's going to be on a carrier. Anyway, I wanted to say HEY to you all, and I'm hoping like you all for our first letters....

Alicia

New update for 305: letters were sent yesterday, they were the first personal letters they got to send out. They started receiving our letters on Thursday and DO recieve letters everyday, except no delivery on Saturday or Sunday, not sure if that is they won't receive mail every weekend, but was told, they get them everyday. Keep sending letters they love them and ..........FRIDAY 305 are supposed to be making their calls home. Remember things do change, however that is what my sr was told. Stay close to the phone on Friday, look for mail Wednesday or Thursday, and know they are hearing from us so... breathe! PIR will be here before u know it. Have a great day!

Friday???? I have to wait til Friday for a call..OMG..That stinks!!

Hi Ladies, have any of you gotten a letter yet?
