Sharbear and Happyfeet: I guess it was up to the RDCs because we did get a phone call Tuesday evening from Div 288. It was wonderful to hear his voice. He did mention getting IT as a division, but no personal IT. His only demerit at that point was for not shaving when he had shaved at 5:00 am. They checked late in the afternoon and a lot of the men got busted.  I'm worried because at that point Hell Week hadn't started. I'm not sure how many demerits you can get without getting sent back a week or two.

He didn't say too much about any issues. Someone did get in trouble for language and he had to do a witness report. (He's trying to stay unnoticed and that didn't help.) He did mention that talking is a problem, but nothing really bad so far.

Questioning Serenity and Happyfeet: Congrats on your SRs being PEO (Serenity) and Section Leader (Happyfeet)! I'm glad they are doing so well!

oh dear, my SR has a BAD potty mouth. I really hope it wasn't her...

No, it was a male and the language was directed at another male.

There are several different RDCs (Recruit Division Commanders) for this group since they are integrated and several different sections I guess. The calls seem completely random and completely up the the RDCs. I think someone mentioned their SR getting an hour to make his call. Our SR had 30 minutes. Others haven't been able to call all. But just because they haven't called yet doesn't mean they won't or that it was because they did something wrong. It may be their section had a bad day or just not their day yet.

On another note: My SR's birthday was Saturday. I absolutely hated not seeing him. I spent the day shopping with my daughter. I almost feel guilty for having fun while he is at BC. Anyone else still on the emotional roller coaster?

So glad to hear that. Sometimes she is just awful about it!
Today is my daughter's 18th birthday...I just keep thinking to myself that she's going to have a HUGE celebration on September 7th :)

I hope she is having a great birthday and that you are doing ok without her. We are looking forward to celebrating with our son on the 7th as well. I'm letting him plan the day, but I'm a little worried that he will pick sleeping in a real bed or taking a six hour shower. :)

My son will be celebrating his birthday the end of September but he will be in A school. It will be hard to be away from him because I have spent the last 18 birthdays with him.

happyfeet, 3 years ago, when my daughter got her two days liberty after graduation, we booked a room downtown Chicago because we only live 35 miles away but the closer we are and less travel time to have to take them back the better. Her first request was to use the shower. She was in there for 20 minutes or longer. We didn't bother her, she loved the privacy and the longer shower time. That and as a surprise, we sent her shoes down to the front desk to have them shined. They have to wear their uniforms while on leave/liberty. Her next request was to walk down to Victoria Secrets and buy a REAL bra. She hated the ones they gave her. We all got a good laugh on that one because we all accompanied her down there and waited.

Maybe that could be a good gift (a better bra) for you to give her for her birthday.

Barb, the six hour shower will only be about 20 or so minuets but to them, it will feel like six hours. Our son will most likely be glued to his girlfriends side the entire time he gets with us. He isn't suppose to even hold her hand in public while in uniform. She wont like that.

Kristine~ Love the shoe shine and bra idea! And i KNOW she will want some underwear that aren't granny panties, hahaha!

Hi Izzymom- welcome! My daughter is in same. I wonder if they know each other, or get along...
I have only received a total of 3 letters. No news is good news :)

Hi, Izzymom! My son is also in 288. He said the Church service  was really emotional, but it was good. I'm glad your daughter is enjoying it. Welcome to the group!

We got another letter today. He sounds much happier in this one. (He seemed tired and frustrated in the last.)

He loves PT and they get to do it six days a week. He said they got soaked marching a mile and a half and it was fun -sometimes I wonder if he is even my kid. ;) They are focused on tests and inspections. I guess Hell Week is starting soon- maybe tomorrow? August 8 was 3:2, so they are on 3:5 today.

He also said things are speeding up and their Division is full of "high spirits." (I hope that means no more issues.) Saturdays are "training days" now- not sure what that means. They can also write on Tuesdays and Thursdays now, so hopefully everyone will start getting more mail!

Only 24 more days!!!

Today we received the best letter yet!  Our son (ship 9 div 287) was in much better spirits. Glad he joined the Navy and is looking forward to graduation. It certainly gave me peace of mind to hear that he is doing better and things are moving in the right direction...only 25 days left!

I got a letter today, it was funny because it said they were getting yelled at to write so he's writing. And that's basically what he said along with him drawing some pics and of course the "I love and miss you" which is all I need to read. He's never been one for specifics and he's still that way. He'll say there's nothing to write and I think to myself are you not in BC? Where there is something new everyday? I was at the hotel again tonight for my SRs best friend leaving tmo for the army. That was almost as hard. I have 3 more of his closest friends to send off yet. Very difficult
