I was doing okay at first.  I was happy to get his first call that he made it safely.  I got over receiving the kid in the box because I knew what to expect.  But I missed his first mid-way through bootcamp call.  I feel terrible!! We had been getting letters and we've been writing, but for my son not to be able to reach anyone the day he was able to call home is an awful feeling!  I wonder if he was the only one that didn't reach anyone :(  I hope this didn't get his spirits down. But please, around the 3rd or 4th week of bootcamp, look forward to receiving an early in the morning Saturday call.  Please make yourself available.  My son didn't call back, but its my understanding that he will not be able to call until the following week.  I feel awful, but thought I could help someone else.

God Bless

I'm so sorry that you missed your call! :( know that calls can come in at any time! My call came at 1:00 in the afternoon on a Wednesday- keep those phones with you always!! Bathroom, breakroom, bedroom-never on silent!!!

I totally agree, never go anywhere without your phone because you never know when that phone call will come.  My phone call came on a Sunday afternoon around 4:00.  I have to go to a meeting once a month and I informed everyone there that I have my phone on the table and if I get a phone call I will be answering.  LOL!!!  Everyone understood.

DJ's mom so sorry you missed your Sr's call but please know that those calls can come at anytime of day or evening and any day of the week. It's best to keep your cell phone close at all times. I got into the habit of wearing it clipped to my bra lol. And i informed my boss that if area code 847 should on my phone i had to answer it and he understood. So hopefully he will get another chsnce real soonyou just never no.

Thank you all so much for the helpful advice!  I will keep my phone on me wherever I go, never on silent, and definitely look for the 847 area code!  It was very helpful to know that they may call at any given time!

djs mom i know exactley how you feel i too missed my sons 1 and only call so far my cell phone would not pick up good in a store he tryed 4 times and i cryed like a baby i have 9 days to see my son and i cant wait hope your sr gets to make another call good luck to you and yours

Thanks ga.mom75, you never know if someone else experienced the same thing.  My son tried about 4 times as well...yep, it's a pretty bad feeling.  I can't stop thinking about it and been crying my eyes out! Wow!! 9 days until graduation, so happy for you!!! Have a great trip and enjoy the time spent with your son!  Thanks again for your support!  God Bless!

I'm so sorry you missed your call! I have told myself that my cell phone does not leave my side, and so far I've been really pretty good about having it with me at all times. However, I did catch myself forgetting a couple of times and walking away from it for a few minutes. My luck one of those "moments" would be when he gets a chance to call. :(

I missed my son's call today.  He sounded so sad and lonely.  He had a quiver in his voice in the message he left me.  I am just crushed and heartbroken.
