i'm having a bad day.....I think I just need to have a good cry.  I received a letter Friday, that was good.  8/9 was the 1 yr anniversary of my Mom's death.  Maybe things are just piling up.  Sending love and hugs to all of you.

Awww you got a letter? How did he sound? I am so bummed I run to the mailbox everyday, still nothing. I am sorry about your mom.... sending you hugs!!!

Has anybody else received a letter or call yet? Have you reserved hotel and airfare yet?

Yes reserved a hotel.. We are about 8 hours away.. So we are going to drive to the graduation.

thanks for the hug :) i hope TODAY you get your letter.  My son sounded pretty good.  He said the food was GREAT but when you made a mistake they really yelled at you (which i knew would happen, but I don't like it...) He also said he's made a lot of friends :) i hope all the Mom's and Dad's get wonderful letters today!!  Also, We are from Chicago so we are staying in the city with a friend and we live in Michigan so it is about a 4 -5 hr drive for us (not bad).  I haven't received a call, I think that would be amazing.  Hang in there, Peace

I got a letter today.. So they are starting so come! It was nice to know he is doing alright.. So many things go through your mind, but it is comforting to know they are just fine.

YEA! Im so happy for you! I check the mail every day hoping to see something from my son...so far nothing. Im trying to be patient, but now knowing the letters are starting to come, its getting harder to wait!!

thanks.. You should be getting yours soon. :)

No letter for me yet either. Happy you all got yours. It's so hard to be patient!

That is good that there are letters coming in .. gives us hope!!!! We have our rooms reserved .. 5 more weeks to go, gettting on this group makes me feel closer to him. So thanks ladies for being here. Im having a rough day at work, tired of getting yelled about by my boss .. happy tuesday!

My son GF just called me and she received letters today from him! She was soo excited to hear from him and I of course am glad to hear he is okay!!!! i cant wait to run home today after work and see if there's anything from my SR in the mailbox!!! She said they werent allowed to mail out letters until Sunday.

Received letters today...thank goodness!!!!  In my letters my SR mentions that they can receive newspapers and magazines. Does anyone know how these need to be mailed (UPS, first class)?

He also mentions that Sept 11 is when S.O.A(?) starts, does anyone know what this is?

He would like some good toothpaste becuase the stuff they give you is not the best.

It really made my day getting these letters, be patient if you havent received one yet, you should be soon ;0)

Got six letters from my SR today! Sounds like he is really doing good...passes all of his test so far. Say they only have their first three flags...their division flag, their division ship flag, and the flag that they made. He is what they call a Stick...which means that he will get to walk in the front and carry a flag during PIR. He said he is division front, watch leader, and APO Athletics Petty Officer...need to find out what all of those are...Said he has made a lot of friends and everyone is doing pretty good. Good luck to the rest of you. Hope you all get a letter today!!!
