While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Looking to find physical requirements for bc
I am trying to find out for the swimming requirement if there is a specific style of swimming they must do or can they do several styles and just worry about getting the laps done in the required time. Thanks for any help.

Recruits have to know how to do the "dead man's float". Basically floating face down. They also have to know how to jump in the water with coveralls on, take them off and use them for floatation. This is not hard as the swim instructors teach this. Very easy....and pretty fun. Then you jump off a diving platform (approx 15 feet if I recall correctly). When you hit the water you immediately start swimming to the other end of the pool. You can use any stroke. I used the back stroke since this is the one that wears me out the least :). It's really not hard. If you know how to swim, you will pass just fine. The one's that don't pass are usually the ones that never learned to swim in the first place. If the recruit falls into the latter category, they go back just about every day, early in the morning and the instructors work with you until you pass. The smartest thing would be to know how to swim before you get to bootcamp.

Thank you so much. But like you were saying some like the back stroke don't wear you out as fast and that is what we were hoping:) I will show her this, lol I don't think I could even climb the platform I am so impressed with everyone for being able to do this. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer this.
