Hello Adamsproudmama, I am sure they have already talked (now that they can) in bootcamp then, Blake has told me there is about 5 or 6 divers, EOD that will be coming to Panama City after the dive prep school in the great lakes. We will be staying at the Navy Inn on base, I am looking forward to meeting parents of other great SR's. We are flying in on 8/30 and hope to make some of the meet and greets posted on the RTC website.

my son is EOD too - so he is looking forward to Panama city -- how lucky for you to have him close.  I keep thinking christmas in FL this year...welcome

Christmas in Florida is great!!  I am so excited to be able to have him home for the holidays!  This will be a Christmas to remember, who knows when he will be this close again.. Your son will love Panama City!  beautiful water, beutiful beaches and beautiful weather.. We are also planning on going to the meet and greet on Thursday, I hope we are all able to meet at the same one, everyone has been so nice and supportive - I guess we are all in the same boat, we miss our "sailors". I did not receive a letter yesterday and I normally do on Thursday, but I guess they are really busy here at the last of their bootcamp. 13 days, it will be here in no time. see you soon!

Hello and welcome! My son is a rescue swimmer and we are from Indianapolis. Already planning our trips to Pensacola.... :) we are staying at the courtyard Marriott by the GL base and will go to a meet and greet on Thurs. Still deciding on whether we will stay over on fri. I told my husband to book it cause I don't want to not be able to see our son on sat if given the opportunity. Haven't gotten a letter yet this week and normally wed is our day. :(. But it has been great getting the updates from everyone else this week as you get your letters!!! So thank you for that! :)

Thank you for the welcome!!  I love this site, I wish I would of found it sooner - talking with other mothers about our sons is like back in the day when the boys were at school and we were discussing sports etc. I am looking forward to meeting everyone, and I am so proud of the boys for making such a wonderful career choice and most of all defending our country. Can't wait to meet you in the Great Lakes!

Anne - I am planning to go to the indy mom's dinner on monday -- would love to meet you.

I did the same thing about booking the 2nd night - my friend said she got her son all day on Sat and most of Sunday too.

We now are bringing the 2 grandma's along to PIR to so we will spend saturday doing whatever he wants

Awesome!! Cant wait to meet you! We will have 2 grandmas 1 grandpa and 1 GF at PIR or at least at the hotel. Plus my husband and I. Our other son decided not to come as we left it up to him. He is a junior in HS and plays football. So he will stay back with friends. Our SR was a little disappointed but otherwise is ok with it. It was a tough decision for our SR on who to choose to be on the list of 4 for PIR. Mom and dad were a given. :)

Pensacola is'nt that close to us, but closer than some.  We are in Tampa.  Although it's still Florida, it's about 8 hours away.  We will be making a lot of road trips! My son is Aviation Rescue Swimmer.  Going to Sarge's Meet and Greet at the Sundance Saloon on 8/30 and staying at the Candlewood Suites.  Thursday appears to be the day I get my SR's mail and from everyone else's posts, I expect to receive a newsy, positive letter today.  Can't wait to get home and check the mail for it.  Getting so excited about the trip to GL and seeing him and all this that we have been talking about for weeks now.  Soon.....................................

Welcome, Blakes mom.  This is the mother of SR that friended you on facebook - your son said he knew mine.   Glad you were able to find our group.  The ladies on here have been wonderful and very supportive.  Again, welcome aboard.

Hi MamaG, thank you for introducing me to this wonderful site!  It's nice to hear what other moms are hearing from their boys..I know we all miss them terribly, but at the same time are so proud. See you soon!

Got my letter yesterday. He a actually used the words "Im doing great". Far cry from those letters in the first few weeks. He is psyched about Hall of Fame. Firefighting skills this week. He sounds just fine and grateful for all my letters. He said a call was coming next week. Have your phones with you ladies!!!!!

Lucky you!  I did not receive my letter yesterday, maybe today.. I feel he probably has writers cramp by now - he has several people he has been writing letters to. The last letter I received he also said things were getting better and everyone was getting used to how things go. 13 days!!  I keep my phone close (real close) always just in case...thanks for the update.
