I know it may vary under certain circumstances, but I was wondering when my husband should expect to receive his PCS orders. His PIR will be September 7th and from there he will attend “A” and “C” schools for RP training.

Unfortunately, I am a rather excessive planner, but even having a general idea of when and what to expect would be wonderful.

Thank you in advance!

You mean for his permanent duty station after he finishes school? Not until he's almost done with his C school. Unfortunately. I'm a planner too (actually that's even my career!) so it's been tough to learn to wait! My husband has A & C schools also so right now we're just waiting until he finishes! It's stressful but I am just trying to push it out of my head since he doesn't graduate C school until April.

During C school is most common time to receive orders.  (I haven't looked at the length of his schools).  It has happened that sailors graduate from school without orders, in which case they stay on hold until the orders are released.  It is a budget thing.  Very much "hurry up and wait".  They can't take leave until they have orders in hand in most cases.

One thing to bear in mind is however long those schools are, they usually run a bit longer.  There may be a waiting period beforehand while they wait for enough sailors to arrive to fill a class.  To get an idea of this, see if there's a group for RP on this site and ask the ladies there how long the training period runs.

Try to stay very flexible, orders can be given, rescinded and new ones crop up ... so planning once verbal orders are given is fine, but never make reservations or concrete travel plans until the "hard" orders are issued.

my husband got verbal orders about a month and a half in to A school, like AntiM stated its a long period of time before they actually get their classes. my husbands a school was suppose to be five weeks and he's now going on three months and still has about two more weeks left.
Thank you all so very much for your help and advice!

LOL, take a deep breath, begin yoga classes for a calm demeanor and flexibility.

haha I am such a planner too! I know its hard for us anal retentive type lol! I always always have a plan and then back up plans and each sub part of the backup plan is interchangeable just in case I need to swap out something really fast haha. It gives me a sense of control and its a good redirection for my anxiety to make up elaborate plans lol :)

LOL, yes I can completely understand where you are coming from. Personally, I like to say I'm "CDO" rather than "OCD" because its in alphabetical order the way it should be :)

haha. See I am even more anal than that and I say I have CDOP Obsessive Complusive Personality Disorder. Techincally I do not have CDO mostly because I am a psych major and I know the diagnostic criteria for it and I do not qualify (in fact most people do not lol) but I do have the personality issue lol!!

A goodness, another psych major?  (LOL< what my first BS is in....)

haha yes! I am! And I am def one of the crazy ones! ;) haha

So I am recommending this book to all my psych major friends that I graduated with so I just wanted to pass it along to you as well lol. Its called Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. He talks about the Holocaust and how it effected him. Awesome book and an awesome psychologist!
