Woot woot!  We received our first official letter from our SR today...  He says he is doing good and has adjusted well to his new life at boot camp.  He said it wasn't as bad as he expected and that he was actually "enjoying it"...  LOL    He really praised his RDC's and said that they were really strict but that they would help them in anyway possible.  He said he thought the RDC's at Ship 13 Division 309 (in his opinion) were the best on the base!!! Thank God for answered prayers.  He said so far he has not been chewed out!!!!!  LOL   This momma is so happy and can now breathe and eat!!!!!!   He also said that he was going to church with a couple of his friends.  Please post if you have received letters... I would love to know if any of your kids are friends with him......  Still checking up on him even in boot camp!!!! LOL

My son left TODAY for BC and called a few minutes ago.....he used his own phone?????

talked 31 seconds.   How will I be able to talk to other moms of kids in my sons group?

I am so new to this and enjoy reading posts.  My son also stayed in his room all the time prior to leaving....hope he does well.

Welcome..this is a great group for support, questions and answers...you will be able to find your sons group once you get the form letter with his ship/division..then people will start a group for that unit....hope this helps, but stay with us and we all will try to help you...stay strong my son left Aug 2, 2012 and I have not heard a word yet other that the Iam here call...

Good luck,

Jo

Wonders520 go to the groups page and possibly someone has started a group for ones that left the same day your son did.  If not, wait til you get the letter of their ship and div and graduation date, if nobody has posted a group i think you can start one yourself, but i think you need to be sure to do it under the groups tag.  I started one in the blogs tab and got a whoopin from the navyformoms police lol  Hang in there it does get better.  I really think the first week is the worst ever, but once you get something to cling on to like his mailing address, etc. then you have some kind of connection it will happen soon..Hang in there!

Ship 13 DIV 314 - I received my first letter today as well. My son also said he is adjusting and the time is going by faster than he thought it would. He seems happy except for the extra chores and hygiene privileges reduced because some members of his division continue to mess around and get everyone in trouble On a good note he said the food was pretty good so that made me happy ;)

I am glad your son referenced the food as my son did not.  I am glad the food is good and that there is a coke machine available.  My son drinks coke......  I can only imagine how Shelby is handling the quick shower situation.  I always got up supper early so I could shower before him because he would take so long (he would not shower in his bathroom, he always wanted to shower in my big shower)  LOL.   Bless his heart, it would take him forever to get ready for church.......

Good morning Moms!  Another day to "X" off the calendar til we see our babies!  LOL  When i first pulled up "Groups" I didnt see First Letter and panic set in for a second.  LOL

Good morning ladies!!!!!  I am so thankful for a day off from work!!!!!   My two little ones (ages 7 and 5) fixed me breakfast in bed (ice water in my Navy water bottle and a bologna sandwich), they are so sweet and thoughtful......  I dreamed about my SR Shelby last night.  I dreamed that the Navy let him come home for a short visit.  I wrapped my arms around him and didn't let go.......   Although it was only a dream it sure did feel good to touch and  hug him........

I wonder what day they will start the 3 week calls home??????  My SR arrived in GL's on August 1st so this coming Wednesday will be 3 weeks........  I have had my phone glued to my hand.......  I have already warned everyone that I may get a call this week and to be on the look out for tears, tears, tears, tears and more tears!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you all have a nice quiet restful day!!!!!!

Hoping for a phone call,

Shelbysmom

How sweet is that ...and I am sure you ate the whole bologna sandwich ;)

I have never been one to remember my dreams...but boy oh boy that would be one that I hope I would remember.........

Jo

Yes I ate the sandwich for breakfast and now my stomach is paying for it.. LOL But I was so appreciative and thankful for their effort... They are awesome kiddos just like their big brother....

Good morning......to funny to think that I would be the same way.... panic if this great form of support was to go away.....LOL

Have a great weekend ...I have this weekend off and even took Monday and Tuesday...so four days off in a row for this mom....wow

Jo

Wow, enjoy your time off....  I am trying to hold onto as many days as I can for PIR and visiting our SR in SA Texas at Thanksgiving......

My son is also at ship 13 div 309. My son's letter home was great too! I was so relieved when I found out he is actually enjoying boot camp. I was so happy when he said that he would be going to church. He even said that him and a few of the guys were working out before they went to sleep to RELAX! Haha. He was excited meeting all of the other recruits from all over the country and said that he has madea lot of friends. Hope to meet you ladies at graduation! We are from Ohio.

Andrea
