Question, I tried to open Opsec and it wouldn't open correctly, is there another link where I can access this?  I don't know if it's my computer or the link.  Thank you for your help.

Where are people staying for PIR? My friend whos son graduated a few years ago said that the area surrounding the base is pretty dumpy and the places to stay are pretty bad. I had made reservations but then cancelled when I saw all the terrible reviews on Trip Advisor!

We are staying at the Quality Inn. I haven't found anyone who knows someone who stayed there so I'm hoping that its decent. It doesn't have a pool but we figured we probably won't have time to use it anyway. Like you said, most of the places around there didn't have very good ratings. I guess they figure they have a captive customer since there is always going to be a lot of people coming in for graduation and they don't have to work hard to impress them.

There are a bunch of people at the Residence Inn, Courtyard, Navy Lodge, Springhill Suites...a few at the Red Carpet Inn, more at the Ramada.

All I know is, after reading reviews, I'd be staying in the first batch of hotels I listed...YMMV

My husband and I are staying at the Red Carpet Inn. Friends of ours stayed there last year when their son went through PIR. They gave good recommendations. I too read the reviews and am going to trust our friends.

Staying farther out due to SR adding the grandma's couldn't get extra room at first hotel - -which was Candlewood suites in waukegen -- Now at holiday inn in gurney mills -- but we are driving so no worries.

and my hotel choices are more limited -- I work in hospitality and can get discounts at certain places.

We are staying at the courtyard Marriott in waukegan. Didn't really look at reviews on the Marriott, but hopefully it'll be nice.

Just got a call from Jesse. His group did great on an inspection and they were allowed to call home. The event has not started yet - soon though
We got a call too! Lasted about 50 minutes and was great to hear his voice. He said the 818 is doing really good and should be hall of fame. He also said they should win the captains cup. He sounded great and excited for the rest of their week. He said "I can count on my fingers the days until I see you guys." so our SRs are just as excited as we are. Oh, and I heard about the Swedish fish story. That was funny. So glad I didn't send Reese peanut butter cups!

I am the proud mom of the swedish fish boy...

He called dad today -- only fair I got most of the last call. And told this story again --said he didn't mind but I know he will rub it in to the candy sender friend of his ---- bet he gets more packages later because of it!

too funny

Just got a call from my son; they did so good on inspections!
