My son is on ship 11 division 279.  Just got the letter day before yesterday.  I'm a little overwhelmed with the thought of finding airline tickets, hotel and rental cars.  I don't know which airport to come into...just a little overwhelmed.  Couple of days and I'll be on it.  Can't wait to see my son.

Hello Ladies~

I am so stoked. I've been reading all the discussion posts over the past couple of months, and boy, have we come a long way!  We are scheduled to attend Sarge's Meet and Greet.  We are staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Waukegan, so I have to start mapquesting and figuring out the transportation issues.  We've decided to rent a car, and just take a shuttle to the PIR.  I am looking forward to meeting you all and am thinking of a "signature" way to identify myself to the group, (sorta like a GOLD purse, lol.)  I guess I could do pink hair like the teens.  LOL.  My mother and father, along with SR's gf, is attending.  My only concern at this point is the walking while at RTC.  My mother has health issues and cannot walk long distances.  She has a handicapped placard but since we are taking the shuttle, that's not an issue.  I am just planning on getting there early enough so that we can take it slow and easy, letting her stop if she needs to.  Oh, well, just wanted to post and tell you all hello.  13 days, 11 hours and counting....WE CAN DO THIS.

as I too have no gold purse, and don't want pink hair.  I thought at least at the meet and greets to put your screen name on the name tag they give you, so we can recognize you!!

I am stoked as well. I know the gold purse is tacky but I love bling just like my mother! LOL! Can't wait to meet everyone. I will make sure I put my screen name on my tag!

My daughter is in ship 11-division 279 as well. We are staying at the Crossland Economy Studio's in Waukegan.

Anybody else staying there-seems like no frills-like a studio appt-i am bringing my mini keurig so i have coffee.

I am very excited to see my daughter graduate from Bootcamp.  She will be going on to A School in Pensacola, FL.

Will we be able to spend any time with our kids before they ship out to A School?  I look forward to meeting all of you!

This has been a very trying time for me, as a mom, I am proud of what my daughter has accomplished.

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone as well.  It should be a wonderful time.I am not sure how much time you will be able to spend with her just depends on when she is going to ship out to A-school. I am sure she has been told when so I would ask her.

My daughter is also going to A school in Pensacola.  I am going to the Ramada meet and greet, and so is Dawgs#1fan (above).  We hope to see your there.  I understand we have the day. They will have to be back between 7-9 pm.  Then we can go to the airport and go to the gate with them to see them off on Saturday.

Found out that Jessie is going to be in A School for 21 weeks and then C School(what is that?) for 7 more weeks.

I think that today is Battlestations and that we should be hearing from our kids soon after today to say

they are official sailors.  They have all worked very hard to get to this point-heard the Gas Chamber was

awful(prob like when my nephew was in the Police Academy and he got the Pepper Spray action)  It can only

get better after today.  If I bring my daughter's cell phone to her, will she be able to take it with her to A School in

Pensacola?  I hope so, because I look forward to facetime with her.  These past 8 weeks have been the longest

weeks of my life!

I don't know if they can have them (cell) or not but I am bringing his too! I feel the same way, I just want to talk to him.

Just talked to Jessie from Bootcamp-she is Officially a United States Navy Sailor!  I am so stoked!  It was so good to

hear her voice and the lingo!  Yikes!  I am so looking forward to the Graduation ceremony on 9-7-12!  I am bringing her cell phone.  She will not be able to have it while in Bootcamp, but I will be able to give it to her at the airport the next day.

Has anyone else heard from their SR?

I did he sounded so good. I can't believe we are so close now. I am really getting excited to go now.

me too, Sarah sounded like her self, and I can't believe the relief I feel, and the weight that has been lifted, even though I didn't think I was stressed.  I too am bringing the phone and the computer and giving them to her at the airport, even though she will be on them big time at the hotel trying to catch up a little.... Can 8 days go by fast???
