For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Theses two divisions are "brother divisions" and will be training together, from the beginning all the way to BS21 their final test. What one does, so does the other.

Jenideer (ship a11/Div 302] Feel your sadness I'm sure he's fine it'sjust we miss them so much it's really tough. Wrote our son today and it was tough made me feel so sad when I was adding photos knowing these are memories of childhood now. Sorry trying to cheer you up not bring you down

so my daughter got a letter from my son she said he reported he has not gotten any of my letters not sure why i have mailed a letter with multiple letters every week since week 1 was over. anyone running into this issue? i will go to the recuiters tomorrow see what they say. i feel horrible as he said he didnt understand why i wasnt writing. ahahah! i swear so much stress! i sent another letter today. let me know girls if your sr says they are not getting their mail. jenideer

Jen - Did you learn anything from the recruiter? - (not that I trust much of what they say). I did another post on the FB page for our PIR that some of them did have their mail held because they were having issues. So evidently that does happen.

So I am feeling quite naive. The recruiter had told my son that he would be coming home for 10 days after boot camp and then would go off to A School. Well I started questioning this in the last week after seeing reading that this is not the case - I finally even googled this - and it came back that many recruiters say this....though it is not true. I wrote to my son's girfriend who confirmed, yes, he would not be coming home. So I just realized what you all must have known all along - we only see our sons for that one day at graduation - and then he will be gone again :( Now I am wondering when will he be home - will he have time after A School, or will he be going off for a few years. I miss him so very badly my heart hurts. I haven't cried about him being gone until now. I won't write him and tell him this - I am always supportive and excited about his future. I just need some supportive words from my fellow moms.

We've all had those discouraging days where we miss our sons so very, very much.
And yes, those recruiters are glorified sales people and nothing more.
This past week was hard for me because none of our family had received any letters and we haven't had that mid-way call yet. I keep telling myself to remember that No News is Good News, but it is still difficult.
It helps me to think that he is becoming a better man and person through this experience, even if it means separation from his family for a while.
Also difficult is that our other family members don't quite understand the depth of our feelings and our sense of loss. But being on this group and the Facebook group for our PIR has helped a lot. At least then we know all the moms are experiencing the same feelings.
I hope and pray for your strength and for better days ahead for all of us. I will be counting down until graduation day!

IDK why the recruiters say that! There is never leave after Boot Camp...nor during "A" school (Family emergencies being the exception and sometimes Holiday standowns) I believe it is possible after A school though, before they go to their first duty station (It's the military and nothing is ever guaranteed...until it is actually happening.)...if so, it has to be requested and approved. So sorry...
A little about "Leave". Service members earn 2.5 days of leave a month...30 a year...so after BC they have only earned 5 days of leave.
I know one day is short...but you will remeber it, and PIR for the rest of your life...it will be such a cherished memory. I feel for you...I have a reservist so he is home...but my other one wants active duty Army...he hasn't even enlisted yet and I cry now...knowing he will be gone! Ugh...I have my moments too! BIG BIG ((HUGS)) to you all!
P.S. My Seabee was on the Kearsarge in BC...so it is a "fond" Ship for me!

My daughter's recruiter told her the same thing about coming home after bootcamp. I told her I didn't think that was correct. Before she left for bootcamp I researched a couple of Navy sites and found out what FTLW says is true. The recruiter also made it sound like she would get two paychecks a month for $1,500 each, not two for a total of $1,500. I told her no way was that true. I just wonder what else he told her.
I called the him with a question and left a message to call me back on August 1st. I haven't heard from him yet.
I apply to the recruiter what my daughter said about high school football games - "I'm so beyond that now".

hi guys we got told too that our sr would be having a 10 day break, but being the skeptic i am i didnt think that was true. also nick was not told that he would not be able to go over seas so...... what do you do? i am proud he is in the navy, i think our boys will grow up and find themselves here, with luck they will learn a skill that will transfer to the real world and have some benefits for education etc. hang in there ladies all is not lost! suwigg if i knew your sons name i could write mine and tell him to give your son a the hint to write! let me know if i can help. love ya all!
