Anyone out there have a kid who actually communicates? Just wondering if we have any idea what training day they will be on this Monday. I like to follow along in the schedule and feel like I have some idea of what he is doing. Here's a great link written by a recent sailor: http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433

Just heard from Evan. I get a letter once a week.(good boy!). They are fire-fighting this week, and BS21 starts next week,6-5.That would be wednesday, the 5th. He earned a Sharp-shooting ribbon, and his division 291 is doing great. Can't wait to see him in 2 weeks.

Hi..just a reminder that since labor day is on Monday it does not count towards the week/day training count. So Tuesday 9/4 will be 6-3 and Wednesday 9/5 will be 6-4. My son had gave me his schedule but wasn't sure if BS21 would be Wednesday or Thursday but did say their next scheduled call would be 9/7.

Hello, I have been out of the loop for a while - been busy at work.  My son is in Ship 14, div 291. I have been getting letters from him and he sounds in good spirits. I read somewhere that some sons called their moms and got to talk for 1 hour. Lucky moms! On the day that he was allowed a long phone call he called his girlfriend. I have gotten 2 calls that were under 15 minutes and am so grateful to have gotten to talk to him.  My family and I are going down on Thursday night. We are staying at the Sleep -Inn. We will be there around 7:30 that night. It sounds like there will be a get together of the families that have PIR on 9/14 that night. Do you know where it is and times? Also sounds like I should order ribbons from Mama Lama. I will check out her website/facebook next.  We are bringing 7 of us - Mom, Dad, 2 sisters, girlfriend, grandma & grandpa. I realize 3 might not all get in, but we will at least get to see him after graduation. Can you help me with how I can follow along on the schedule for training?  That sounds very interesting. Then I can ask my son questions about it - cause he is good about answering questions but not so good at letting us know what is coming up.  This site has a ton of information and helpful - but I am confused by all the groups. I hope I am in the right one.

Here is a link to a summary of training by day from an actual sailor, but she only get to week 6. http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433 This one is for the page prior to that, lot's of good information about boot camp: http://www.navydep.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=162 . Divisions 291 & 292 are " brother" divisions and do a lot of their training together. I think they are on the same training day, but not 100% sure. Look at the Tabs towards the top of the screen and pull up events; that will give you info about the meet n greets. There actually are several. I'm going to try to make Sarge's. Thereis a lot of good info on the 9/14 PIR group about extra people and all under the Latest and greatest tip title. Looking forward to meeting you!
