For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Ship 04 (USS Arleigh Burke) Divisions 819 & 820 (brother divisions)
Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 819 & 820. It only happens a few times a year when there are two special ops groups in one TG.
Please be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in one of these divisions. Although they are still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other division are doing. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

820...no phone call here yet....I read where someone from 820 received a call yesterday 8/28 but we're still waiting...only 2 letters

Hi SeattleMom....this mom is from Port Orchard...across the water from you. Anyhow, my SR is not from 800 but 900. I received a letter this past Friday. They did not receive approval to send any mail until last Sunday. I feel for you. Reading how the 300 DIVs were receiving mail and phone calls really pulled at my heart strings. Our SR called his GF for his call home, which we expected, but we got a letter :) I'm sure "mom's letter" is in the mail! :)

Hi Maile - Thanks for the 'local' support. :) Was having a down moment. Hoping for a letter maybe this week. Bummed because I forgot my cellphone at home today - panicked on the way to work thinking today might be the day - immediately called his girlfriend to let her know so she could pass the message for him (assuming she'll get the first call) to call me at work instead - no phone calls yet. :( Asked her to pass my love if she hears from him this week. We both just keep sending the letters. I know they help him through to the next day and I know he knows we are all thinking of him and missing him - I keep reminding myself that that's really what matters anyhow. I'd really much rather he spend his spare time resting, relaxing, taking a longer shower, and keeping in touch with his siblings and girlfriend (we all remember the importance of young-love, right?!) and, oh yeah, making certain his boots are nice and shiny so inspections go good!
Half-way through for them this week. Time is flying by. 4th week is a busy week so sending extra thoughts and prayers their way.What's the word from the 900's? How's your son doing?

Again, my heart goes out to you. You'll probably receive a letter this week. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I only know what my last (first and only) letter read. The 900s have been practicing for the ceremony (ies). He is doing well. Misses all of us like crazy. He has passed all of the preliminary tests. He has made a friend. His letter was surprising to all of us here. Very heartfelt, deep, and sensitive. He described his feelings and what he was feeling. Amazing. He was always the kid who let everything roll off...he has never been a "wear it on your sleeve" kind of kid. His letter was refreshing because he wore his heart on his sleeve with us. Maturity already kicking in? Four more weeks and we'll see! Are you going to IL?

Ahhhh, I was right. He did get his call on Tuesday....15 mins....time was short so he called his girlfriend. She then immediately let me know he'd called - I'm lucky, she's a sweet girl. I finally got a letter yesterday. Very brief, as expected, but a wonderful suprise. It's amazing how they change, ya?! Yes, I'm going to IL. Still working on all the travel plans though. How about you? Send me a message and we can chat. Take care.

Hi LibbysMom, Nice to connect with others with sons in these divisions. I just learned about the meet and greets and am not sure which we will be at. We were considering Flannagan's. We got our call on Monday and it was so great to hear form him. We also got a letter today, so it has been a good week. It will be good to meet other parents on the PIR weekend.

Hey ship 4 Div 820 got a call from my son tonight what a great birthday gift. He sounded great. He said everything is going good and he is making friends with the guys in his division. Hope all got their phone calls.

I have heard from one other mom that her son called but that is it.

One more 04/820 call came in on Tuesday, in the evening. My SR was able to call for 15 mins.
