I got a letter today and at first I was ecstatic... and then I read the letter. He is so miserable. I really hope he can hang in there. I feel like the Navy is the best thing for him. I hope he has the strength and determination to keep pushing forward. I'm not sure what IT is, but he had 3 1/2 hours of it for getting an answer wrong and he said that almost broke him. He's proud that he made it through, though. Hoping you all get your letters and phone calls (and that they are a little more upbeat than mine!)

Hang in there.  I bet the next letter or 2 will get better.  They always find a way to break you so they can build you up.  He will be stronger for it and he should be turning the corner this week or next and then graduation will be be so close.  Keep writing and encouraging him short notes!  Will say a prayer for him.

IT is intensive training...they use that to punish them for anything!  our daughter had to do it because her rack mate folded and stowed her shorts  for her  but didnt do it right when she was at dental one afternoon...she got 1 1/2 hrs and the rack mate got 3!

Oh, man. That's rough! Are they still talking to one another?

Thanks, SeeShell and tlb4444! He wrote back on Week 3 Day 2, so I'm hoping that this week will be kinder to him! I write to him everyday (except Saturday) and I keep encouraging him to stay strong. He says my letters help to make him smile. That made me feel better. At least I know he is still able to smile! He did ask me to pray for him, so any and all prayers are GREATLY appreciated! I know he has the strength to do this, I just hope HE knows he has the strength to do this!

For the families who have a loved one ship 13 div 311.  Some of us have not received a call since the initial one when they first arrived.  This may help a few people.Last week on the 23rd I noticed some were getting a phone call however alot of us did not.  Yesterday in a letter from my son he stated that on the 23rd his wisdom teeth were pulled and he was allowed to sleep the whole day and also on the 24th.  I am assuming alot of loved ones had the same procedure that day.  Hope this makes you feel a little better.  I know it did me.  I guess that was a good reason for no call!

Yayy!!! Got letter from son today!!! He sounded much better from the first letter. He passes the first part of his swim test but now has to pass the floating part which he says is tough. He was happy to get all the letters from home. He said after he get past swimming then rest will be easy. Said they had recd all their uniforms and were preparing to take pictures. I feel so much better now. Praying for him with the floating though. Hope others recd letters too :-)

I got a letter from my grandson today - ship 13, div 312. It was my first letter and I called his mom and shared it as soon as the mailman left.  He sounds great and is looking forward to finishing basic training.

I got a letter today from my SR dated 8-23. He said he likes standing watch. He said one of his RDC's always says "shut the F up" and the other one broke a table - he was mad because the RCPO talked back. He's not sure how they will form one unit because they can't seem to get along. He said that he really wants letters and said it sucks when he doesn't get any. I write him every day so now he should be getting daily mail. He sounds so much better than he did in his last letter and definitely better than his first 2 letters (they were heartbreaking) where all he could say was "find me a way out of here". Now it's only 28 days to PIR!

Got one from my son today!

He got to keep his wisdom teeth, thank goodness. But he missed his call because he was SIQ due to his feet swelling up. Never heard of that-must be all the exercise and walking. He is doing great, said he really enjoys it. So I'm happy but now worrying about feet. I will always find something to worry about :)

Hi cksunshine! Welcome...my son is also in Div311 believe we only have 23 days until PIR. I am so anxious to see my son. I have been in this group since the beginning, and it is nice to know there are other moms out there just like me. I have joined a few other groups on this sight, too. Lots of great information on them, but not always as friendly as the women who lead this group. Let me know if you have any questions. Are you going to PIR? Hopefully we will hear from our boys in the next day or two. Take care!

Hello and welcome!

My son is in Div 311.

only 3 more weeks!!!
