So my boyfriend is leaving for BC in about a week. I have a quick question about getting paid while in boot camp. He's leaving behind his finances to me - some credit cards, school payments and part of our rent. My question is this - as I know that his pay doesn't really start coming in between about 4-6 weeks, as I have read - is this money he receives accessible to me? I know his recruiter told him to bring his blank checks, and bank information, ect with him when he heads out for his pay to be deposited into his checking account. A friend of mine who's bf just graduated boot camp had told me her boyfriend has NO access to that money until he graduated....is this true? I'm really concerned now - because my boyfriend is leaving in about a week - and I need access to that money for his bills and such...can someone give me some advice? I have NO clue how any of this works....thanks!!

It gets direct deposited into whatever bank account he gives them information for. If you have access to that bank account you have access to the money. I paid my husband's bills when he was in boot camp (he was my boyfriend at the time).
Did he get BAH included?
We both share an account. So i assume if he got paid today you have access to it?
Yes. We didn't even share an account- he just left me his passwords and checks and I was able to take care of all the bills that way. So if you have a joint account you will have no problems!

I wasn't able to access his account until a month after he was there... and even then, the first paycheck is the smallest.

My husband got paid a month and a few days after he was there so it was like 2 paychecks at once. He got a little over $1100 from his first paycheck so about $650 each paycheck- they take half out for his uniforms and supplies from each of the first 2 checks.

recommend that you and he go to his bank and get you a POA from the bank!  So that you can access his money to pay his bills.

Legally that is the best way.  Him just leaving the pass word and some signed checks isn't really a good way to handle money issues.

I say go to the bank and get their POA as most banks want a special one, and thyey normally have it thier.

The recruit must decide to have his pay deposted in the bank accoount he has bake at home, if that is what he wants.
