My boyfriend wrote saying he's watch? But he'll have liberty weekend free because of it. What does that mean? And in a later letter he wrote about having a week with me? How long does Liberty weekend last? He's an OS and his schooling will be at Virginia Beach. Also, he wrote about Christmas stand down, does that mean he gets to come home?

His rate is GSE. According to his paperwork from MEPS, after bootcamp he has "Basic Engineering Common Core" school in Great Lakes for 10 weeks and "GSE Strand Technical School" in Great Lakes for 6 weeks. His recruiter (he's new to the job) told him that was probably A and C school. Do you know something different?

Angie, do you know what the difference is in his two schoolings? are they both A school?

BECC " Basic Engineering Common Core" is done by all Engineers....the GSE "Strand Technical School" is the strand that teaches him about being a GSE...only GSE's go to that school.

Tell the recruiter he is lazy!  For not looking that information up, or caling Great Lakes to get the correct info.

so which part is considered his A school? and do you have any idea when he might get his orders?

If I understand it correctly they are both his A school its just like seperate classes. Like in college those are his Gen Eds n then his C school is like a speciality course. I think anywho....

that makes sense. thanks :)

Most rates do not have C school at Great Lakes, although the Navy's promo sheet seems to say the GSE do... looks like they have a multi-part A school.  Not uncommon.

But that's always subject to change.

sigh....I'm so confused. How do you know what to believe? His paperwork only showed the 2 schools I mentioned earlier, totaling 16 wks of training. But that link shows a lot more than that. When does he find out how long he will actually be gone for school?

When he checks in, goes through indoc, and is told himself.
