For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Does anyone have a special someone leaving for Boot Camp on September 5th?
I'm a newbie. My son leaves for bootcamp from upstate NY on September 5th. It's been a looong process, quite the roller coaster ride for us, DQ, waivers, letters to MEPS in TN etc....so this has been something we've been waiting long awaiting for. It's funny how happy we were when he signed and the months afterward were filled with such proud smiles and now as the time gets closer the pride is still present but the smiles just aren't the same. In addition to our son leaving (after living at home attending college) our only other child leaves for her first semester at college just 3 weeks (this weekend) before our sone leaves for bootcamp. Talk about an emptynestlike RIGHT NOW, wow! Anyway my husband and I have also been looking forward to some alone time, we have a great relationship and are looking forward to romantic dinners on TV trays in front of the TV and sitting on the porch looking at our empty driveway (kids cars are moving into storage) haha. Seriously we have a lot of get-aways planned to help keep our minds off of how much we miss our 20 years of parenting. Would love to talk with others who have someone going off to bootcamp with my son.

Well, he's all but in GL right now! Just waiting on his ride. The swearing in ceremony was quick, but good. We were so glad that we went. Now it's time to hurry up and wait for the phone call then the kid-in-a-box.
Our son was glowing after the ceremony, he is nervous but is anxious to get this adventure moving. Seeing his eyes so blue (which means he's happy) after the ceremony is making this so much easier.

My son left yesterday and we got our "I'm here" call at 1:44 this morning. Unfortunately he called my cell phone and we have spottie cell service so the call was broken and dropped. Thanks to this site, I knew what the scripted messages was even though it was broken up. Going to head directly to verizon wireless to get a signal booster so that doesn't happen again. From what I could hear he sounded good. He was told at the airport that if he wanted to talk longer than 30 seconds he better make those calls before getting on the bus, he did and sounded GREAT! Called his sister in college too which meant the world to her

Its hard for me to figure out who is messaging whom, and I'm not sure I'm replying in the correct area but am doing my best. My son left from Phoenix, Arizona, but it seems like they may be in the same BC at least. It would be nice to know some one else that's from the same (do they call them) barracks? or unit? It shouldnt be much longer for the "kid in the box" and the "address". I do have 2 letters already done. I want to be sure and send him a letter almost daily if not more as I knew someone in BC that rarely got mail and it was hard on them whwen everyone else got some. Hope to hear if we have same ship/divisions. Keep in touch.

It is difficult to navigate. I am on navy for moms on facebook too. That site is easier to know who you are talking too. Received my kid in the box.....no kid on Friday. Just waiting on that form letter for his address. I have written everyday so far too. Makes me feel like I am talking to him. They are call divisions. Have a great rest of the weekend.

Maybe our sons will meet up too. He left Tuesday. I received the call around 9:00 pm Tuesday night that he made it to GL. He is going to be in the Seabee division as a equipment operator. This morning seems to be better than the last few days. Thinking of him always, but not as many tears today. Can't wait to get the address and mail his letters. Already have written one and it is ready to go as soon as I get that address. Graduation will be wonderful to put my arms around him and hug him and get one back.
Good Luck to you and your new recruit. This is a great thing for them.
I am also on the facebook Navy for Moms page. It seems a little easier to navigate sometimes.

We're all holding up well. My husband served in the Marines so he enlightens me on how things worked back when he was in boot camp. He keeps my sanity in check haha.

Received the box today. No address yet, Our son left on the 4th to swear in and then fly out. So that was pretty quick.

Did your son go from Albany, NY. My daughter left last week from Albany MEPS. We git her address in 2 days from her recruitor and received her box yesterday. Good luck to your son.

My son left on September 4th and arrived at Great lakes that same evening. We have received the box. We have calculated Graduation PIR to be Nov 2nd. One day after the due date for our first grandchild. We are begging the little one to come into the world on Oct 29th. WE can't miss the PIR. I can't imagine not being able to see my son.
