Hi everyone,

My boyfriend of 2 1/2 years rec, ently joined the navy. He is due to leave for boot camp October 29th 2012, but his recruiter put in a request for him to leave early which is very stressful because everytime his phone rings I'm on edge thinking that is the call that will instant take him from me. His occupation is an ABE Aviation Boatsmate Equipment. I'm looking forward to this long emotional rollercoaster ride and I'm seeking friends with the same emotions to assist me with getting through it. Does being a Navy girlfriend have more Pros or Cons?

well, my bf of almost a year left in may for bc... we are both heart broken because we will be long distance for atleast two years.it is scary looking into it but if its real love then we can make it through anything. we will both grow stronger as people and in our relationship. dont look at the negatives or stories of breakups, you just have to look at it in a good way. you will both have time for yourselves for a little while, but you need to use that to your advantage. like i said im new to this too and i say.. if you love him its not even a question if youll stick it out. :)
@sday ~ I understand, we haven't been away from each other for more than a weekend. I know that this will be hard but knowing that he is doing it to protect us puts my mind at ease, but my heart has a mind of it's own, I guess I'm worried about us moving due to him being stationed and how will our son take it. So what is your boyfriend status? Has he completed A School yet? How do you feel now?

My sailor and i have been through it all, the good and the bad. Today actually our 4th anniversary and he's been in the Navy just over a year now. It crazy because I remember  thinking how am I going to make it through bc without talking every night like we've been doing for the last 3 years. His letters were so sweet, and i even got one saying he need to make me his wife asap. Then bc was over before I even know it, and he was off to Texas the same day as pir. Right away we was back to talking every night. He's an HM which have on of the hardest A school, so when classes started we barley talked then the weekends went to hanging with the guys. I was use to being his # 1 and I didn't know to handle the lack communication and just came off as a brat which pushed he further away. Then the  week before he was suppose to came home for the first time I broke up with him b/c taking the advise of my friends. Long story short we got back together and now we have an even stronger relationship. You have to learn to adjust fast and never make a permanent decision on temporary feeling.

@Jasmine<3 Wow your story gave me chills. I'm glad that you guys pulled it together and are still standing strong til this day. I learned a few things from your situation and I understand that it will get ugly before it gets pretty, and with the right mind set this to I will over come. So did you guys get married yet? You give great advice.

Planning on it but taking it one day at a time. It crazy tho our break up brought so much to the light and let us know we really couldn't live without each other. And if his base wasn't only an hour away we would have been married, but now we have time to save up some money.

Jasmine well that is just great keep me posted with that. Where is your soldier stationed? My boyfriend has been interested on my feelings about marriage so not really sure where he's going with that, but I no he's under a lot of pressure my day mentioned marriage the other day to us. Have you experience deployment yet?

He stationed in Great lake IL, And no deployment yet and hopefully not for a very long time.

Thats good :)

Yea we went through a big break up as well and now we are closer than we were before so I know exactly how you feel. I wish you guys all the best of luck on getting married in the future.

I apologie so much for taking this long to reply, I have been so caught up in my boo and school that I haven't had time to blink. Thank you for the advice is was very helpful. I wish your husband the best of luck and I would love to connect with you via email mines is carolwilson22@hotmail.com

It is hard, but trust me, your love will grow so much stronger. My fiance and I have been together for 4 and a half years and his PIR for boot is July 7th! He then leaves for Texas for 7 weeks for A school, but will be returning for reserves for 6 years. The first few weeks were VERY hard....but with the help of my family and coworkers, I have managed to stay sane! We are stronger than ever...that old adage of "Absense makes the heart grow fonder" has never been more true! Keep your head up girl...cherish every second with him before he leaves. I wish I had enjoyed the little things before my fiance left..stay strong! We're all here for you! :)

Absense Makes The Heart Grow Fonder.... Well put! Thank you for the support and love. He is now down to 50 something odd days before he leaves and I hold him like every day is our last! I wish you and your fiancé well. When is the wedding?
