We got a letter today too!  It was soo good to hear from her!!  She sounded good. She really didn't mention much about what she's been doing other than the expected: shine boots, make & unmake their racks, iron, stenciling their uniforms, and of course lots of PT.  Not a word about any other recruits, the RDC, the food, etc. She did say she would be calling around the 17th, but didn't know what time. She's looking forward to the day she can watch tv, eat popcorn, and drink a coke. ha!  Anyway, sounds like she's hanging in there. :)

I hope everyone else hears from their SR this week, one way or another!

Good morning 02/945!!!! Yesterday was a looooong day for me so this post is late coming. We got our first letter last night. One for mom & dad; one for little bro.

He got to attend chapel last Sunday (YAY!!! I wasn't certain that he would go to chapel.) He is curious to see how long it takes the mail to travel. LOL! Some of his shipmates razzed him for his emotions on the phone last week, but it was all in good humor (I got my first call from him 8/7). He asks for pics of everyone, which I've sent, but he admits that he hasn't received any mail from us yet. (I'm sure he probably got his first batch of mail the day after he sent this letter.)

He says the guys are really coming together. He is getting stronger. He feels himself changing. He says, "Everything just gets better mommy." :)

Ok, question. What is SEMPER FORTIS? He signed his letter with it.

Y'all have an awesome Friday!!!! Hope you get calls tonight!!!!

Got my letter today and did not think I could be happier. Then came the phone call. I am exhausted. I have been running on adrenaline in emergency mode because I had not heard from him and it was not in my control. Now that I know that he is doing ok, I am mush a virtual puddle. Not sad. No tears (yet). Just worn out.

We got a call last night from our daughter!!  Did anyone else in this Div get a call?  She said they just finished up week 2 yesterday.  I guess I don't understand how this works, because I had calculated that they'd be going into week 4 on Monday, she said, no, week 3.  But PIR is still scheduled for 9/21.  Oh well.

Anyway, she sounded really good, and actually kinda likes it.  So far, she has passed her swim test, and a written test.  A bit short now on her run, only by 30 seconds.  She said they hadn't received any mail until this past Sunday, and that was after they all had already written their letters.  Now, they get mail every day, that is, if they've not messed up during the day.  So, keep writing.  I hope everyone else is getting along ok.

And, was so glad to hear that Whitney'smom's SR is improving!!

Hi everyone I got my letter on Thursday and a phone call on Friday after noon. I don't normally keep my cell on me at work but her boyfriend and I (he also works for me thats where they met) figured that she would  call Friday nite and she knows he always has his phone on him and she would get 2 for 1. Anyway she call me before he got to work and we had about 10 mins. to talk so she could also call him  too. It was sooo good to hear her voice and hear how well and happy she is doing. I don't know how many section leaders they have but she is one. She said she got it because she knows how to make her rack and fold her clothes.  Lol  she had a head start on that a few yeas ago from her brother inlaw. anyway she is doing great and amazing herself on the things she thought she could never be able to do. Can't wait to here more. Good nite and good bless all of our SRs and keep them well and safe.

The Navy does not have an official motto but you may see these used as an "unofficial motto"

Semper Fortis (always courageous) or (always strong)

Non sibi, sed patriae (Not for ourselves, but our country) or (not for self, but country)

"Fair winds and following seas" is used for wishing someone well.

Got a letter from my daughter today.  She writes a little often on small pieces of paper and index cards and then sent them to me.  They are all dated.  She said she passed the swimming test.  She said she also took the 2nd class swim test and passed.  She said she is carrying the Arizona flag at PIR and is the first one marching in front of the other flags and division.  I guess it would be because Arizona is at the beginning of the alphabet. She is very tiny and said the Navy hoodie and sweats don't fit her at all.  She really likes the RDCs and the Chief who is female.  Everything she wrote was very positive.  She did give me a list of what to bring from home.  Now the hunt begins because she packed up everything into boxes before she left.  She said she still has her phone cards and hopes to call home soon. She said next week (letter written on 17 Aug) was firefighting and classification.  She is going to take the test for Arabic.  She speaks and reads the language.  She grew up in the middle east where we lived most of her life.  She is in the Aviation Apprenticeship but I think she would like to be a linguist.

Hope this enlightens you all.  I know I loved hearing about the info written home from everyone who got letters.  She did say she has gotten lots of letters from home and to keep writing.

I think Div 945 SRs have very little extra time because they are participating in other activities plus doing everything the SRs do to graduate.

I hope there were letters today for everyone or maybe in the next few days.

Have a great evening.

Received two letters from my daughter today. One was the questionnaire that I put together for her. Here are a few things from it: she's the tallest girl in the division (5'10"), will be carrying the CA flag at PIR, said her bed was too hard and waaayy too small, and she's become friends with a recruit from Oklahoma.

Then, in her second letter she mentioned that she's been put on light limited duty for a few days due to a swollen ankle.  That letter was written last Friday, so have no idea what her ankle would be like by now.  She mentioned that this week was going to be busy as they were expected to have 2 inspections, live fire, pictures, and test #2.  Hopefully, they all did well so far!!  22 more days!

Good morning 945 family! If you are on FB, the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page has posted a few random photos of 945 and 947 (I think). Go sneek a peek. You might see your SR!

Does anybody claim these soon to be sailors?? lol
