For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Does anyone have a special someone leaving for Boot Camp on September 5th?
I'm a newbie. My son leaves for bootcamp from upstate NY on September 5th. It's been a looong process, quite the roller coaster ride for us, DQ, waivers, letters to MEPS in TN etc....so this has been something we've been waiting long awaiting for. It's funny how happy we were when he signed and the months afterward were filled with such proud smiles and now as the time gets closer the pride is still present but the smiles just aren't the same. In addition to our son leaving (after living at home attending college) our only other child leaves for her first semester at college just 3 weeks (this weekend) before our sone leaves for bootcamp. Talk about an emptynestlike RIGHT NOW, wow! Anyway my husband and I have also been looking forward to some alone time, we have a great relationship and are looking forward to romantic dinners on TV trays in front of the TV and sitting on the porch looking at our empty driveway (kids cars are moving into storage) haha. Seriously we have a lot of get-aways planned to help keep our minds off of how much we miss our 20 years of parenting. Would love to talk with others who have someone going off to bootcamp with my son.

I received a phone call today......only 5 minutes but it was great to hear his voice. He said they filled out the form letters on Friday and they should be mailed next week. On that they have PIR as Nov 2 as of right now. Hope your grandbaby comes early or holds out until you get back. This week should be a little easier than last. Did you get a phone call today?

No I didn't get a call. His initial call said it would be 3 or 4 weeks before we would get another call. Maybe your son received a special permission for something. That is a great sign he is doing well. I will be looking in the mail everyday. Thanks for the thoughts and mine will be with you as well. Where did your son ship out from?

I guess his whole division got the phone call. I guess whoever is in charge of them was in a good mood that day. I am so thankful for it.

Our son left August 12th. The year leading to his departure went by so slowly but the last three weeks just flew by. We were totally unprepared emotionally. It is getting better though. He is half way through BC. The time flies for him, not so much for us. Our last son just graduated high school a year early and will probably also enlist. Then our nest will be empty. On top of my own kids I've baby sat for the same families for 20 years and their youngest kids just went to Jr High this year so they don't need a sitter anymore so I am hoping my youngest will wait just a little longer before he leaves so I don't go into total shock, lol. I hope you have made it through these first few days alright. Good luck to your sons. Stay busy and enjoy your time with your husband :-)

My husband shipped out to boot camp on September 5th. He called me yesterday morning around 7:30am, but I missed the call. I've been so bummed since then. I wasn't expecting him to earn a call so soon. He left me a message and he sounded like he was in good spirits.

Glad you at least got to hear his voice. I am taking my phone EVERYWHERE with me!!!!! It is going o be on loud ring and vibrate.......lol!!!

My son Robert went to bootcamp September 5. I didn't realize it was so big! I am waiting for his box to come and the letter next. We should get at the same time. He is gonna do Hospital Corps

Hoping you get it soon. There is now a facebook page entitled PIR 11/2/12 for all us moms that have kids that shipped this past week. My son told me in his call that graduation is slated for Nov 2.

Only call I've got was from the airport in Chicago telling me he made it and it was on his cell. That was the first time he had ever flown in a plane

My son also left on the 5th from NC. I got the box today also. I have already started writing him and can't wait to get the address to send them!
They have internet access on the ships. My son's friend chatted with him online while at sea.
