Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Moving wherever A School is??
Hey there I was curious to get some opinions. I currently live in Jacksonville, FL and My husbands PIR is Oct. 26th. His A School is in Pensacola, FL. They said it could be anywhere from 14-26 weeks in school. My problem is I need to get away from Jacksonville. Should I move to where his school is or try to hang in there for the 4-6 months?? Any and all opinions are welcome!!! thanks!!

I battled with this same question myself. Ultimately we decided that I needed to stay put and keep working so we could save up money. He also said that he wanted to focus on school and do well while not having to worry about me being lonely sitting at home without him.

I'm currently trying to move to where my sailor is and I can tell you it is very hard without support, I would def suggest if you are going to do it to find a job first, then somewhere to live then move not move first ;)

^_^ yeah I have been doing some research on apartments near the base already. I am a stay at home mom so finding the job isnt a big concern right now.. Whats holding me back is if I want to move three times in a year lol

well i mean you kinda need to get use to moving ya know. but i guess it all just boils down to you and what you want to do etc. i am where my fiance is in school because i love her and can't do without her (yea were still in that sickening love) idk when or how were going to get married so i want to be with her as much as possible, i honestly have nothing but a dog and my truck now, my family is mia, lost my job, (country song plays here) but her family is more than willing to take care of my dog and i've lived in some kinda hard situations so it doesn't bother me if i have to sleep in my truck. if you are married and the child is his i do know from what i have seen here (va) even if his school is short he could still move off base with you, i think this is something you and him should discuss as well though. feel free to message me with any specific questions and i might be able to help more. sorry this got so long winded. but yea it comes down to each person and whats best for them.

Well if you stay here then i'm in palm coast about an hour to an hour and a half from you.
My husband is also in basic training and i have a 2 and a 4 year old.
i dont know where yet my hubby will be put in A school but we find out soon!
I was in Jacksonville to let hubby go to basic and to get my military i.d. -

Also.. my mom said you should save your money
military will move you for free. Plus your toddler
will at least stay in same place which will be good -

If the school isn't long enough for him to live off base, and you move...the Navy won't pay to move you to the school. Are you ready to do that all by your self with your child? Your spouse won't be coming home to help you at all! Also you will be the one to find an apt.
Regarding breaking your current lease, if the school isn't long enough for you to move with him, you can't use the SSRA as you need orders showing you are both moving to break the lease otherwise yes they can make you pay a fee.

Unless he has orders saying his A school is 6 months or longer, I would wait. As hard as that is. I've know women who chose to move anyways and it just wasn't a good idea financially. Plus like someone said above, he wouldn't be able to live with you anyways. :(
