Wondering when his PIR might be - right after Christmas or right after New Years?

Getting so nervous about making sure that we have everything done in time.

Hi run2bfree - my son leaves 10/23/12.  If you look at some of the previous posts/discussions boot camp can be anywhere from 7 1/2 to 9 weeks.  I haven't been able to get a definitive answer from anyone regarding the holidays though......we are also trying to figure out when his PIR might be but so far no luck.  We live in California so it's going to be a big trip for us - especially at the Holidays!  I guess we just have to wait until they ship and then get that first form letter!  We went to Navy Federal Credit Union last week and got our son's bank account opened.  Next we need to work on the power of attorney for him.  There is so much helpful information on this site.... I've made myself a file and just keep adding new things to it as I figure them out.  Maybe someone will reply with more info on the holiday schedule.....

My son leaves on 10-29-12 for bootcamp, and when he came back from meps he told me that PIR would be in january because they close down for the holidays.

Hi I'm new to this, so I can use all the help I can get.  My son leaves for BC October 30th and I have the same questions about graduation.  I had no idea about Navy Federal or setting up Power of Attorney.  My son is quite the procrastinator and doesn't keep me in the loop. Could you please tell me how to go about setting up things at Navy Federal.  He has a car payment and I have been wondering how he would be able to keep up the payments. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My son is shipping on Oct 30 as well.  I think their PIR might just coincide with the end of the Mayan calendar... lol

We'll have to tag them the End of the World as we know it-- Group.  12 - 21 - 12 ??? Or maybe New Year's Eve?  Best PIR ever?

I guess we are the beginning of a group!

I am guessing we are the beginning of the group or the end of the year group or the end of the world group :-).  Still wondering about the graduation question.  The days are beginning to go fast!  My son's date was moved up to 10/29 and I still think there are so many things to do and say.

FYI-- we used Legal Zoom to arranged owner of Attorney. It took 5 minutes and cost $35.

My son leaves Oct.30 as well. We have all been trying to figure out the graduation date too. It's such a bad time of year, even for travelling. As soon as anyone knows something, please share :)

Hi Lauren68, my son ships out 10/29 also.  I am also wondering about how the holidays will impact their graduation date....

My son will be leaving on 10/30 as well.  This nervous anticipation is not fun . . .

My son also leaves October 30th...after reading all of  the things that we should be doing...I think it has finally hit me..that we are running out of time.  I think all of the PIR's are either on a Friday or Saturday...I'm hoping for the first weekend in January :)
