OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Our son leaves next Tuesday the 18th... its a good thing for him, but I'm already dreading the next two months. Its hard to let your baby go, even though he's 21..

Yep, ours turns 22 on the 20th, just two days after getting to BC.. So we will celebrate his birthday Sunday with an Anchors Away Party... He's gonna kill us LOL..

Spookmom - My daughter started BC on 9/12 as well. Got the midnight phone call, was told the next on will be in two to three weeks and that the box with arrive soon. She sounded exhausted and I know that the plane ride wasn't fun for her. I haven't slept in days. Didn't think it would be this difficult. Are you doing alright?

Yeah, I got the same phone call, sounded tired and distracted but ok. I'm sure they were being rushed off. My son didn't get to fly, they had to take a 9 hour van ride. :( Yesterday was horrible, I couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, left work early because I felt so bad. Today was better. I guess we'll just take one day at a time. You doing better?

I am glad to hear your days may be getting better. I am doing alright. Just trying to work and keep busy. The night time is the worst. House is so empty. :( No letters or her box yet. No news is good news I suppose. :) Have you received anything from your recruit?

Got the box today, searched the pockets but no note, just a blank piece of paper. They let him make a short call on Sunday because they needed some info for his security clearance. He was very upbeat and said things were good. I still miss him like crazy but it made a world of difference for me. I know he's handling it well. I hope you get something soon.

My son arrived at GL on 9/12 too. He sounded good for what little time he was allowed to speak.

My son left Sept 13th, flight left at 1:00, they sat at the airport until at least 10 or 11 and then I got his phone call at 2:55 am.....and he sounded completely exhausted! I wanted to know why they sat at the airport for 7 + hours but he didn't have time to explain.........I felt bad because I knew he didn't sleep the night before due to nerves and excitement about going, he had to be up that morning at 4:30 and left for MEPS by 6 am.
I was finally able to sleep after hearing that he was actually there, but I did worry myself sick that he was sitting at the airport for that long.
I know that he will do just fine once he adjusts, hes a tough kid.

My son's flight was delayed do to a fuel pump failure on the plane. Guess it could have been any number of things that resulted in the long wait.

My daughter left on 9/11. I'm not sure why they sit at the airport for long periods of time, however, my daughter's recruiter told us that she would be there for awhile. My daughter texted me when she arrived at the airport here and in Chicago but she got to go eat while she was here so she wasn't really sitting around. Her flight got changed while she was eating so they left a little earlier. My daughter called me yesterday and she was SUPER excited. Doesn't sound like she's doing much yet, however, she said that they were told today would be tought. Can't wait to hear from her again.
