I can't believe the time is almost here to watch my baby leave for the adventure of his life.  12 years ago I watched my oldest son, and I have to say it is not any easier this time.

Does anyone have someone leaving on the 18th from Virgina?

Today is a big day for you and your family.  One more week for me.

Good Luck and God Bless.

Hope all went well the other day.  4 more days, today it finally hit home, he is going to be leaving, tears started flowing.

Thanks for that note.  I am assuming he will be leaving from Richmond and plan was to go with him till the plane left.  Tuesday is going to be one long day.

We were thinking about sticking around at the airport until our son left because we were dropping of my mother-in-law for her flight to CA.  But it was going to be a long wait and my younger children were getting ansy.  We did see the ballons at the gate where they were to board.  My son left from Tampa International Airport, Florida.  At MEPS my son just told me to go ahead and go home - it would be a long time before he left for the airport.  So, we said our good-byes there; very hard.

My daughter, 20, left for bootcamp on 9-11 (of all days!),  It wasn't until a couple of days ago that I found this website.

I was pretty much in the dark about a lot of things!  The kid-sick emotion kicked in pretty darn fast, it's been a very hard

week for me..But I hope she is strong!  Have lots of letters ready to mail, but no address yet..Her recruiter is suppose to call us with it soon i hope.. or will have to wait for the "box"

Yesterday was rough, had his Anchors Aweigh party, emotional day.  Now its Monday, taking him to check in, staying the night and breakdown day tomorrow.  Was planning on going to airport but I guess there is no point.  I'm not happy about that but maybe its for the best.  I know he is going to be fine and that he is doing the right thing.  Can't wait till November to see the man he will become the next 8 weeks.

When my son left on the 11th, we were told at MEPS to say goodbye there and not go to airport, so we did as they suggested.  Things were good for me the until that night and then the tears came but the SR all seemed fine and seemed to actually prefer that the parents leave.  Still waiting for box tho...

I've heard both about going to the airport.  So I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do.  We are just sitting here waiting to meet up with the recruiter right now and then head to Petersburg.  So far I've done pretty well today although my stomach is in knots.  My oldest son who was in the Navy called him from overseas last night to give him the "Your going to be fine and this is what you need to do" pep talk.  I thought it was hard seeing him leave, this is the hardest, my baby boy is leaving.  I'll  be fine...I'm going to be fine...He's going to be fine... We are all going to be fine and get through these next couple do months.
