While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi everyone,
Dom just called me,whew,he sounded well. He is in countdown mode. His focus was high school football scores. So i pulled out my tab and.started googling,lol ,somethings never change . He called his dad too. He also wanted to call a friend and I guess he felt guilty for ending call quickly. He likes having his own money and.wil decide.how much he will be saving\,no comment. Why did he say he is not physically taxed. Good 10 years of footbal and basketball finally pays off.
Tonight i am goin to dinner with the wilmington nc families. Have afantastic night,xxxooxoo

Domsmom- agreed! My son was CIF swimmer and runner for years and it's a good thing. It's paying off now. Also his Eagle Scout rank transferred to the Navy quite well- 2 rank advancement is worth all those camping nights and merit badges- but honestly my son loved it all. Can't wait to see everyone at PIR- you can see one on Utube to get an idea- Mays me so proud of our boys- MEN!!

you guys are so lucky that your boys went in so active. my girl was a couch potato, tall and thin but couch potato! I hired a personal trainer to whip her into shape before bootcamp.
lauren, did dom do something special to earn the call? that is awesome and I'm sure it made your day! no call for me and I double checked my phone when I read your post. LOL. I'm so happy that he is adjusting so well.
Justinmom- eagle scout is such an honor, sounds like you raised a fine young man. my son was one badge away from eagle scout..then he got into girls and it was all over :( ha!
tomorrow is their favorite day! (at least my daughter's) and then I believe hell week begins...they can do it!

We heard once a scout smells the fuses it's all over- perfume and gas (girls and cars). We kept those away until Eagle!!
I noticed another mom posted it's week 4 (hell week)- continue praying our SR's will pass through the fire!!! punt intended! haha!

Hi Barb,Happy Monday.
I am so curious about Hell week. I would hate to be in there shiny shoes. lol I love my sleep and peace and quiet much to much. I hope they get thru it as painless as possible.Doubt we will hear anything tjis week unles they got aetter off sunday before hell began.

Hi Lauren,
apologies for the late reply. Hell week is mostly hell because they are woken up at 0330 and have a ton of inspections and tests piled up on them in a short period of time. Very stressful week. Week 5 (next week should be firefighting) but still less stressful. week 6 is around the time of the dreaded gas chamber. (it could be a different scedule but along those lines)
here is a rundown on what to expect. I'm sure it is diferent but it's a good idea...I think they just finished wk4 day 3 (give or take a few days, not sure) http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433

Hi babbs, I received my first letter today!! Happy Mommy Dance going on over here!! It was a very short note that he's trying his best to stay sane and avoid the stressors. He also wrote to remind me to rub our dog's belly, have his brothers shower, and for his brothers to finish Assassin's Creed. It was great to receive SOMETHING from him. I doubt very much he will call until the "I'm a Sailor" call but at least I can rest a little easier knowing he still has his sense of humor. He did send his father (we are divorced) a post card that read "hi, I'm ok". His dad was a bit bummed with the short note but that's my boy of little words and big ideas! I hope you get a letter and a call soon!
