My daughter is in RCU for stress fractures in both shins. After talking to her this past Sunday, she said she was given the option to finish BC  while in RCU. Does anyone have info on what happens, does she have to be FFD before completing tasks, does she still have PIR? I am all for her shaving off time being there even if it means sacrificing PIR! They get so sad, depressed, and pessimistic while in RCU. I just want my bubbly, goofy daughter back. I know they are in good hands there but it seems to suck the life out of them. Any info would be helpful, cause I have searched for the answers everywhere :) Prayers to all the SR's and Sailors out there!

Glad everyone had such great news! Congratulations....now if only the phone would ring!
What a GREAT weekend! Not only did we get a letter yesterday but we just got off the phone with him! He sounded so happy! He will be working with another division while he is in RCU and if he gets declared FFD in time to do Battlestations, it sounds like he will get to graduate with them. He said he would call back...hung up really quickly. I don't know if he'll be able to, but it ws so good to hear his happy voice!!! Praising God!!! I am definitely going to continue praying for your sons/daughters (as well as mine). I know I've said this before, but WOW...
Great news!
BRAVO ZULU
Hi Janet.... YAY...SD... yes he's there for school then reports to his ship on the 20th of October..which is homeported at NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO for a while.. (dry dock) I do know that his homeport is changing to Hawaii probably after next deployment... but that is always subject to change!!!!!

How exciting for Andrew!  At least he's had good weather here during the summer.  Of course, Hawaii sounds GREAT to me...

I know my son was excited about San Diego simply because he misses our weather.  Winter in Great Lakes, summer in San Antonio...   Yup, he is dreaming about California again.  Says he misses surfing and scuba diving, so San Diego is definitely the place for him.

Glad you seem to be doing well too!

Miss you!!

-Janet

Miss you too Janet....  ugh san antonio summers suck...  the winter in chicago wasn't that bad  well yea it was ... it was bitter cold but hardly no snow.. Andrew was hoping for some serious snow... He has tried body surfing.. but said that water was really cold...I tried to teach him while we lived in Cali when my boys were young since I grew up near Santa Cruz.    Im doing great ... hope you are as well...  Now on to talking his brother into doing the same and enlist... he keeps teasing me saying he's "thinkin" about it.. driving me CRAZY       Barby

Congratulations to everyone. Sounds like good news all around. Will keep up as navyknitt22 said. Praying for all our sons and daughters as they face new challenges each day. The lessons of patience and tolerance continue even after RCU, but the lessons learned there make the new ones much easier to bear. Hugs and Prayers, Susan

Karen.. yea Andrew has been in San Diego since the day after PIR and absolutely loves it.... Takes the E4 exam TOMORROW... hahahah yea that would be a hoot... Barby

While it is depressing for them when they first get there, they do start to adjust and soon you will start to hear the signs that your daughter is bubbly and such.

she will not have a PIR when finished with her RCU, PFA and such and she will go right to A School unless she cant pass it and then she would go to FIT until she passes.

This is a stressful time for her as well as for you. My daughter for a little over a month and is doing better and her attitude is also much better. she had stress fractures in both of her heels.

Hang in there and thoughts are with both you and your daughter.

My SR was classified FFD last Wednesday and passed the run on Friday. She has battle stations on Tuesday so I may get the I'm a sailor call on Wednesday. No PIR but I'm trying to get a flight out to see her Friday. Do you think it is safe to book a flight? I'm so excited. Hang in there everyone. Your SR will make it too!

OMG HOOYAH!!!!!   most likely its safe to book....  SHE WILL GET THRU BS21...  HOOYAH HOOYAH HOOYAH
