My son is leaving on 9/26 from Maine. He has been in DEP since April. He is going to be on a submarine.
I am so excited for him. He is ready to go and get BC over with.

My son is leaving from DFW then!  Excited and nervous (I am).  :)

Excited and Nervous I feel the same way too!! Hello from Cincinnati, Ohio! I had a short stay in DFW this summer what a nice place. Let's keep in touch!! Tjmax513

Well, its almost time...we are getting last minute things checked off the list (at least I am, my son doesn't seem worried about anything at this point!).  He is very independent, always has been, and I have a feeling will do just fine.  I was doing fine up until about a week ago and then started feeling kinda nervous.  Hoping I have taught him everything I should have as a parent!  I haven't really let myself dwell on how little I am going to get to see him over the next few years.  He has 2 older brothers and 1 younger brother and he is very close to all of them.  I think that is going to be the hardest for him.  It would be fun if some of our kids become friends through all this. :)

SSM

Agreed - Would be nice to stay in touch and maybe our future sailors will become friends. Where is your sons A school? Mine will be staying in Great Lakes. Good thing he won't be to far away.

son leavin on 25th, which is this monday, i dont know what to feel, just glad that he is not expressing fear, like i would be.

we leaving from ga. i will be at mets monday am for the final swearing in, will anyone here be there? maybe graduating around thanksgiving, cant wait to see how that will work

Hi Dannysmom! Just wanted to say hello and yes my emotions are certainly mixed right now. Hmm graduating around THANKSGIVING will be Awesome! I'm Tjmax513 nice to meet you. Let's help one another get through this.

Hi Dannysmom,

I am dropping my son off at the recruiters office this afternoon. He will be spending the night in Boston. We plan on attending his swearing in Tuesday morning and the he is off. I was ok until this morning but no it seems to be hitting me. I hope I make through the next couple of days!

Hello there Dawn,

Myself and my son are from Cincinnati, Ohio! He will leave Columbus next Tuesday 9-25-12. Like yourself I have mixed emotions. My son is very nonchalant I'm not really sure what he's feeling. Everyday I think about him leaving and how I will miss him, then I think maybe he doesn't want me to miss him. I don't know! I do know we'll ALL BE OK. Nice to meet you, lets stay in touch!!  I'm Tjmax513

My son is also leaving next week Tuesday, 9/25, from Boston. Excited and nervous for him. Family dynamics are really tough right now. His father can't wait for him to leave and my younger son doesn't want him to go.....Can't wait until November for boot camp graduation!

My daughter leaves Tuesday the 25th out of Georgia. Up until this last week I have been doing ok but this week has been a bit more difficult. I an excited as she makes this journey into her new life but sad as she is my youngest and that empty nest is looming in ! Shes very excited and just wants to get there. I know she will do awesome ...looking forward to her PIR and seeing her again.

My daughter leaves from Oregon tomorrow. I am excited for her and the new experiences she is going to have.
