How do I obtain his address? the recruiters here in Houston/Pasadena don't know. Do Rescue Swimmer hopefuls have a different address?

If he just got to bootcamp it will be at least 3 week or so before he is able to write or call you. You won't hear from him until then. A goodc way to relief any stress and worry is to start writing letters now until you do get his address. Trust me he will love and appreciate all the mail and having a feeling of being connected to the outside world. Write as much as possible and keep encouraging him no matter what. He will surely appreciate that. My son has been in the Navy for over a year. I love it anytime he gets to call or email. It is rare. They are quite busy and their time is not thier own. He will do fine. Say posted to this site. The ladies will help you through the experience and answer as many questions as possible. You will meet some wonderful people on here. They helped me through my sons bootcamp when I thought I was going to lose it not hearing from him. But he is a Sailor and on a ship and I am very proud and you will be proud too! Keep the faith and God Bless
when did your son leave Chris'mom?
He will soon find out if he hasn't already that he won't get any mail until he sends you his address with his form letter and everything. But again, do write him as OFTEN AS POSSIBLE!. Those 8 weeks are going to seem like HELL and they will need to hear from you. But he will survive. I told my son, over and over that the pressure is only to see who will break. They really don't mean all the names and things they say. I reminded him if they did, then they would not congratulate them at the end for enduring everything. Just remind him when it seems like its getting hard its all a mind game. If he remebers that he will be fine. My son was set back 3 weeks for medical and flunking the float part of the swim test. Once he made it through that he was fine. I was on pins and needls but this website and all the wonderul ladies helped me with great information. Keep a positive attitude and know that others are praying for you recruit to do well during the bootcamp experience. You should be very proud of him. My son is so different and all grown up now.
He is totally matured and has a different attitude about life and everything. It will be an amazing experience when you see him at PIR (graduation) Enjoy the experience!!!
Oh my! I guess I didn't see everything on the videos. I can't imagine how hard it is -- but, I pray that like your son, Chris will graduate and be off to 'A' school.
Thank you for sharing.
Recruits cannot receive mail until they are in their ship and a Recruit Mail Petty Officer has been trained in how to handle mail, which means it is usually sometime in the third week or later when they start receiving mail depending on when P-days ended and the division formed. Recruits can write only on Sundays at first and cannot write until the first Sunday after they are in their ship, which is usually the second Sunday they are there, but could be the third Sunday, depending on how quickly the division forms. They later MAY be able to write, and maybe even mail letters, on other days as well. Once your recruit can receive mail, Mail Call is every weekday evening (M-F).
My son left Houston on the 12th, got his box on the 18th and the form letter on the 20th. The return address on the box is NOT his mailing address, but of the processing barracks, so do not use that. Hold tight. You will get everything soon. Just keep writing so that you will have something to mail out as soon as you receive the his actual mailing address. Welcome aboard!
Thank you - I just received the box and was searching for a paper with an address. Then I read your post. I feel better.
I have to admit, the Navy take very, very good care of all the recruits. They (the recruits) just have an adjustment period of being told what to do...and us moms or we moms or us Navy Moms have to adjust to someone else bossing our kids around and not having any say so. Having to cut the apron strings was hard..but so worth it. I was so against any military...but am glad he chose the Navy over all others. Just hang in there for the next 3 weeks, know that they are ok and you should receive a brief phone call or a letter. You will then be so happy and relieved. But stay posted because I found out these women keep up with EVERYTHING!! How they do it I never know. It kept me sane. I stalked this site day and nite for news or any information coming down the pipeline. You have many supporters so stay in touch and know he is in great and hands. ( I stalk my email looking for an email from my son just wanting to know he;s ok out there. He's stationed in Japan but out in the ocean somewhere...so just any bit of communication is great!
