For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Still waiting for the letter.....SR got to GL 9/13
Has anyone else gotten a letter yet from around 13th or 14th? Got "the box" 2 days ago.....i guess hearing nothing is a good sign?? I just need to know hes ok....stupid right? In his 19 yrs, I have never gone more than 3-4 days without hearing his voice...its been 7 days now and i think that getting a call or a letter would really ease my heart to know hes doin ok, it would certainly ease up alot of anxieties. Its just this initial first week or so ive found to be very difficult learning a new normal but more so worried about him. Im sure as the weeks go by it will get easier for all of us but this first WAITING for contact is excruciating!!

I received my PIR letter this past Monday, 9/17. My SR got to GL 9/5. I can completely relate with you about how difficult it is. I have yet to receive a personal written letter or phone call. i never received the "got to GL" call either. Just keep positive & busy. My SR is 18 ---- they are off doing great things and we have to keep telling ourselves that no news is good news :) You will find plenty of support on this site. I know I do ---- you are not alone :)

Hang in there, you will get a letter probably in another week or so. It is sooo hard the first week. I remember, but then it seemed to start to fly by. My SR graduates on Sept 28,2012. Before you know it, you will be heading to Chicago to see him. The first letter is the best!!!!
