We would like to think about a get together with all of the great moms in Georgia and will be looking at locations and dates. Would you list your name and city so we can start tracking where all the moms live and can make some plans from there. Thanks!

Dannysmom,
I am still here but not as often as I used to be! What school district are you in? We live near Lassiter. What rate is your son going to be when he finishes bc?

weare presently in marietta city but may soon move to wheeler district. my son will be undesignated after boot camp because of some major mixup but the more am reading about it i am feeling better

My son is also undesignated but I haven't read a lot of encouraging news yet.  I feel like the recruiter talked him into this to meet the quota.  UGH.

My son is also undesignated. He graduated 8/10 from BS and left today to Norfolk, Virginia for his first Duty Station. He will be on a "frigate".

I too believe he was LEAD to do this and I was NOT happy about it, however, he is now glad he did. He is 19 and to be honest, he really does not know what he wants to do. He has a few ideas, and he is making plans, however this allows him a chance to experience different things/jobs.

The sad part of UNDES is that they are looked at as the "Dumb" ones or the ones with questionable records. My son has a spotless record, not even a speeding tix and he scored very high on his test, he just simply did not wish to wait for 6 mos to a year or possibly more to start his Navy career. I am willing to bet this is the case with MANY of our UNDES kids!!!

Mom's, I think our babies will be just fine, and I believe they have an advantage!!! Or atleast I sure hope so!!!!!

My son just PIR'd last Friday, 9/21.  We are from Johns Creek.  He is also undesignated and the stigma attached to that is unfortunate!  He will be at Great Lakes for C school, then mid-November will head to San Diego to become a crew member on the U.S.S. Halsey, a Guided Missile Destroyer.  At some point, there is a crew swap with the U.S.S. Russell.  That ship is in Pearl Harbor so he may get to visit there for the swap.

Welcome all!

I live near Hamilton Mill near the Mall of Georgia too.  My son is just about to finish A School and just found out he is going to be going to Japan for 4 years starting in October, 2012.  I would love to meet up with other Navy moms in the area.

Welcome just peachy ! We used to live in Yokosuka and might be able to answer any questions you might have. It is an awesome duty station - what ship is your son heading to?

He will be on the USS Lassen.  We live in Dacula, GA which is near the Mall of Georgia.  I'd love to talk to you sometime.  Thank you.

I know Dacula but you KNOW how I pronounce it right! I often have business that takes me near the Mall of GA so perhaps we can meet for coffee or lunch. Irene lives near that area as well.

My son's buddy just left his ship in Hawaii to report to a ship in Japan - USS John McCain. He is very excited, the ship he just left would go to Yokosuka a couple of times a year and we still have friends they always pick our son and friends up and show them the town.

I live in Tunnel Hill right beside Ringgold
