I am just waiting for more info while I go to sleep with my phone. I am wondering when her PIR date will be with the Thanksgiving Holiday approaching during graduation time. I am worried about my daughter even though she is one smart, tough cookie she was in a car accident last Wednesday rolled & totaled her car & phone. We were afraid she would not be cleared to leave but she was cleared Thank God but I hope she is doing good.

Hi There,

I would have updated on this topic yesterday, but I was outdone. It was a very busy day from start to finish. My son left from Columbus yesterday 9-25-12 and flew into the Great Lakes. I'm proud to say I got my 10 second phone call around 8:15 pm. He made out pretty good time wise. When I spoke to him, his first words were "I'm missing you already." It took everything out of me not to cry out loud but being a "Navy Mom" I said I miss you too son and Love You. I pray that everyone else got their phone call. Please let me know! Getting our PIR date should be very interesting with the holiday.

My phone call came in about that time too! Our sons must be together. I waited to fall apart until after I hung up. I said go get 'em son. Shine bright! Then hung up and sobbed.

I hope your daughter is doing just fine. Actually I'm sure she's doing good she seems like a tough cookie to still go ahead and go. You have to be a proud mom. Congrats to you and your daughter.

I am glad you got your call no call yet for me but I am just gonna think no news is good news! My daughter knows I love & support her. I love giving her advice and pep talks but this is her path to take and to take alone. So as much as I would love to take this journey with her I just cant I accept that. I am not going to worry she is in Gods hands and I will trust him. Everything happens for a reason I love & miss her so much and this is only the beginning. When she does call I hope I can stay strong like you & not cry I can bawl when I hang up the phone. I want her to be recharged by positive thoughts bot worry about Mom back home. I also hope she is not worried about how I feel about not getting my call. She needs to be focused strong & positive!

I will be praying for all the families & young men & woman accomplishing their dreams!

Hello to all who had sons & daughters that left this week. My daughter left from Oregon on Tues the 25th and I received the call from her 11pm (chicago time). Luckily she had her cell phone to make the call. There is a video that is called "Welcome to Bootcamp"  It is about 13 minutes long and gives a really good glimpse what happens to all of them from airport through processing. I watched it w/ my husband on Tues evening so we were prepared for the short call and lateness of it all. It actually helped seeing what they are doing at that time. It will make a mom cry; but know that your kids are in good hands and they aren't alone in any of this.

I watched the video after she left however I sent my daughter with a calling card & no cell phone!!

hi my son left tues 25th also. I got a quick phone call when he got off the plane in Chicago around 7:30pm & then I waited up til 2am to see if he would call from RTC--but no call.  I received "The Box" today by fedex hoping it would have mailing address info in with his items, but it did not-I guess that will arrive later.  I am also wondering about the PIR date being so close to the holiday--it's just making me a nervous wreck but i'm sure it will all work out. Thank you and best of luck to all our "future sailors"

My son left on the 25th too. I never got my phone call either.  and I won't get a box, my son is going to donate his stuff. I can't wait to get his address and start writing!  PIR close to Thanksgiving....gonna be so hard to find a flight and hotel room reasonable!

Well no call and no box I am pretty sure my daughter will toss out her old clothes.I am glad to know you got your box already. I l know how you feel LA Mom since my daughter texted and said she would call in an hour. Let me know if any of you get your call or any info on PIR date. Good luck to you and your sailor as well!

My daughter left for BC also on Sept 25.  I didn't receive a phone call then, except from her cell phone.  But I did receive a call today (Saturday, Sept 29).  Did anyone else get a call today?

Yes!! I received a phone call Saturday afternoon!!!!  It was a very quick "hey I'm here" call. I wanted to talk more but I could hear in background saying to wrap it up--he then said " I love you & I want to do this and be a sailor!!-then bye-hangup. Makes me wonder why it took soooo long for that call to get to us--I hope everything is ok!! I'm just glad I was home-lol----now waiting for that address & PIR date :)
