So my boyfriend and I have been together for almost 3 years now, our anniversary in Oct 22nd and he leaves for boot camp Oct 29th (how lucky.....i get to be with him for our anniversary). We have been talking about marriage and he has made it very clear that we are getting married, "BUT" he wants to wait until after boot camp because he wants to ensure that I can handle the distance the we have to come. I understand and respect his decision, but I have to admit it is very stressful. I find myself researching marriage in the navy almost everyday and I understand that it is better to get married before bootcamp to cut back on stress and unnecesarry time spent on paper-work, investigations etc... I have explaind this to him, but his reply is "i no baby, but I dont want to rush marriage" I mean come on it's only a few months ealier that what he has planned or why not a proposal to give me that security. I am trying to remain clam and hide my tears/frustration. I just wish I could get him to understand where I am coming from, but I have to admit I love him and I see us in this relationship for the long hall, so with that being said I am sucking it up and standing by his side and after boot camp I will just have to see what happens. After all the last thing I want to do is rush him!
Has anyone been in this situation before? Any advice?

Yeah I think its all just everything is changing for them so fast they are worried. The guys also hear horror stories of wives leaving their husbands because they cant deal with the lifestyle. But to be honest in every situation there will be shitty spouses leaving for no reason, there will be cheaters, there will be anything you can think of its not just military but we get so caught up in horror stories sometimes we fear it will happen to us too. A lot of wives and SO's really do struggle with bootcamp but look at it as training for yourself too. :) You will learn how to cope and how to deal with stuff alone and it makes it that much easier for the next step :)
Trying to push someone to get married before they are ready, isn't a good thing.
Really what is wrong with waiting until he is in "A" School? Either way, you aren't going to have a big fancy wedding, odds are you will just end up going to the JP to get married.
Maybe he does understand where you are coming from, it sounds like you don't understand where he is coming from.
What is his rating going to be in the USN?
You can't marry during PIR weekend, and preBUDS is not very long (8 weeks). I don't know how easy they are about the marriage chit at that particular school. Some A schools are very good about it, others are not.
Any SEAL wives hanging around to answer questions?
PreBUD's is in Great Lakes, and they require the same paper work any other "A" School in Great Lakes requires (even though they are not an "A" School in Great LAkes)
Yea I too have a change or heart, I guess like I said before when you are preforming the duties of a wife you just feel like you DESERVE that TITLE of being a WIFE! But when the time is right it will come, not sooner or later! Just continue to pray about ot as I do.
I must say I totally agree with you. I would rather find out that a long distance relationship is somthing he can't handle while Im a girlfriend verses a wife! I am taking your advice to TRUST his love as well as mines. Thank you for your lovely comment and awesome advice. I wish you and your salior all the best!
