Hello all, my boyfriend left to bootcamp sept 18 however I don't think he arrived to the great lakes until sept 20 becuz we were able to text until that date. He did not call to let me know he made it but yesterday oct 4 2012 I recieved his first letter. Do they send home formal letters before they send regular letters? He didn't mention anything about a graduation so that is why I'm wondering. I don't want to assume that maybe I was not invited and that's why he didn't mention it.

They are supposed to but sometimes they don't get them out in time. When my husband was in bootcamp his parents (we were dating at the time so he sent it to his parents) got it the same day they got their first real letter from him! So who knows what may have happened! When you write to him today I would just ask. You don't want to spend all this time wondering, he may never mention it assuming you or his parents got his form letter!
I had the same issues. His parents will probablly get all the information. This suck if u dont really talk to the parents (as was the case for me). And their right to write letters can easily b taken away. I didnt get a letter til like the 4th week because his ship kept getting in trouble. And even after that it wasnt that many letters. Dont freak out. There will b tons of information about PIR on here do the math (8 weeks) nd u can kinda come up with a possible date.
Thank you ladies so much. As this is experiEnce has me all over the place. I think I am going to ask him about the graduation. I second guessed myself because I didn't want to give him anymore stress than he already has. I do need to know because I anxious to know whether or not I'll c him befor he does A school in Texas. We are both from Chicago. I pray there is enough room to invite me. I am so grateful for ur comments. Thanx again and good luck to you.
Since you're from Chicago, I would go anyway. It's just a short train ride to get to Great Lakes and even if you don't get to see him graduate you still get to spend all day with him before he flys out to Texas! It would totally be worth it in my opinion!
To rbuon18 I definitely agree with u. I'll do that if he asks me to for sure. Thank yOu:-)
You're welcome.... Hang in there. It will start getting so much easier now that you're starting to receive letters!
